STAT Authentic - Does Anyone Know Their History?

I am astounded by the garbage that is attached to STAT Authentication. I'm an old-time collector and I was always under the impression that Ted Taylor was one of the hobby's "good guys". The stuff that is on line with STAT and "Chris Morales" authentication is a joke. Of course most of us have seen the Coach's Corner auctions. Amazing they can get so many rare autographs EVERY MONTH. I half expect to see a Wm Shakespeare (one of rarest autographs there is) on one of the SCD auctions (with a $50 min bid of course).

My question is, does anyone know the background of these guys? Obviously they are just in it for the money and have no interest in the integrity of the hobby.

Has anyone had any dealings either with the STAT principles or the mysterious Mr Morales?

Yes, Ted Taylor has been a guy associated with the hobby for a long time (SCD, Co-Promoter of the infamous Willow Grove Show, Fleer Exec, etc.) but his association with Coaches Corner (IMO) has soiled his reputation. STAT was started in '05 by Ted and another guy (Jeff Stevens) & you'll see them "authenticate" at least one signed Beatles album cover in every CC auction. STAT was one of the companies that "authenticated" known forged material in the HBO "Real Sports" show in January 2006. Chris Morales is the guy Coaches Corner started using once Donald Fragipiani was exposed...My question has always been how CC decides what item comes with certification from STAT or from Morales? To sum it up, Ted's problem may just simply be guilt by association but it's curious how STAT has extended itself outside the sports realm....Personally, I would not ever consider purchasing anything with either STAT or Morales certification
