Snoopy Bowl '95, Snoopy & Steve Young

A little trip down memory lane....
A couple years after the success of toons on the court and field in the historic 1992 Upper Deck Comicball games, Snoopy signed a 120 million dollar - 5 year deal with the San Francisco 49ers.
Fans and sport annoucers had a field day. Why would the 49ers blow their salary cap....over a 2 foot canine?
However despite enormous pressure, "Joe Cool" performed amazingly at the start of week one....the infamous "Snoopy Bowl '95." Here he is getting ready to put a block against Leon Lett, that sets up a touchdown.

Perhaps it was his age....or a flashback from being a WWII ace, but a little before half time, Snoopy flipped out. Here he is shown after the snap....running the wrong way.

Then came the third quarter dive on Young and take the ball away and bury it somewhere in Candlestick Park. The ball has yet to surface to this day, and Snoopy would never wear the gold and red again.

After the game Paul Tagliabue called for an emergancy owners meeting and passed a league wide ban on toons. However, despite this rule, Ryan Leaf was drafted second overall in the 1998 Draft.
