Seagull problem at Comerica Park

The Detroit Tigers are having a problem with too many seagulls flying around Comerica Park and being a nuisance. While Justin Verlander
was being interviewed after his no hitter performance tonight a couple of seagulls were walking on the field behind him and a few were flying, it looked kind of funny.

The Tigers are going to bring in realistic looking fake owls and set them at various place around the stadium to try and scare the
seagulls away (seagulls are supposed to be afraid of owls).

Well, the Great Lakes have been called "inland seas" so seagull is probably the right term. image

    POW!!!

The faux owls will work for about 10 minutes and then the gulls will ignore them.

  • I think the gulls added a nice touch to the games lately, though the players might be a little annoyed. Not sure what they think about it.

Easy solution - "Shotgun Night" at the stadium. Bring your shotgun, kill a gull, and get a free soda, kill two gulls and get a free beer. Problem solved.

Alka Seltzer Night would do it too.

What lured the Seagulls to Comerica Park was a large number of moths blown in by a storm, they were attracted to the lights at the ball
park and the seagulls were feasting on the moths. The moths are not native to Michigan so it was a freak thing that they just happened
to be blown in there with a storm.
  • Moths? Moths you say?

THis is my favorite Moth image

  • Yeah... same thing happened when the M's were at Cleveland a couple of days ago. I swear, there were so many gulls in the LF & RF at times that I thought we were surely going to see a repeat of the Dave Winfield/Toronto incidentimage
