Any vintage photo experts out there? Chick Gandil photo...UPDATE PSA/DNA

Im not sure if this is authentic or not...it does not feel like a typical photgraph, its front surface feels similar to a 1980's Sportflics Card, texured--that is why the scan looks different ...

does anyone know the classifications of original photos (type1-2 etc)....

does PSA authenticate and/or Slab these types of things....

any info is appreciated...

  • I know that during the 30's they printed what was referred to as linen postcards. The paper stock had a high rag content and had a textured feel. Some smaller companies did produce these into the 50's, but most were made in the 30's.

  • It does look like a linen style photo, hard to say though without holding it.

the front surface has a plastic like feel, it sounds like rubbing a sportflic with your nail, although it could be linen with an epoxy over it...

were the blacksox used in postcards in the 30's or 40's..seems unlikely....

The typing on the back looks "old style" pre-electric typewriter.
