1978 Brooks Robinson gold card

anyone know what this is? It's permanently sealed in it's holder and the holder is scuffed up a bit
Should I cut it out of there and put it in something else? Or is it even worthwhile? I'm sure the card inside is mint

thanks

These were made in the late 1990's and really don't have much value. I picked one up for $5-6 on eBay a few years back...

Yea, I have a gold Mantle and 2 Ruths 1 gold and 1 silver they are cool to look at and they are my sons favorite cards, but I don't think they are worth much, The Gold Ruth is probably worth about what I paid for it . . . about 15 bucks .

I wouldn't really risk damaging the card trying to take it out of it's holder , one slip of the wrist and that card is toast , they get damaged really easy .

At least your scans came out pretty good, when I try to scan the Mantle , the Blue letters don't show up in the scan, it all looks very dark , almost black , Nice card !

I just got one in the mail last week. Pretty cheap and fairly interesting. Mine's in the protective holder, too. I thought about cutting it out, but I've decided to leave it alone for now.

I'm pretty sure the Danbury Mint was involved. I think their name is on the back of the card somewhere.

Danbury Mint would make sense ( a new card sent every month for a mere $19.95) lol

Doesn't have their name anywhere on my card though

bottom right corner has "MBI MLBPA" in tiny letters

found some on ebay - it's Danbury

    Ebay 22k gold cards
  • I havent checked but I assume you can get the Ruth kinda cheap. A few years back they were giving them away free to anyone to asked. They tried to sell me more. No Thanks-cancel. Thanks for the free card though.

The Silver Babe Ruth I have has no makings of any card company on it .

The Gold Babe Ruth only has Golden Legends and it is GL#1

The Gold Mickey Mantle I have was made by Bleachers Card Co. 23 KT Gold.

The Gold Babe and the Gold Mick I bought in Cooperstown about 10 years ago, I think I paid about 15 bucks for each of them , I still haven't found out anything about the Silver Babe Ruth card which says Gold , but it is silver. < Shrug > I dunno .

The Mick is the only one that is serial Numbered though #1346, on the certificate of authenticity it says it was only printed 10 days which I guess means , they're are quite a few of em around .
They still are very attractive cards though .
LMAO, they look like a Million bucks image

My bad . . .The silver one is also numbered #5480
Gold performance .999 Silver with something that looks like the scales of justice as a logo .

I recently bought a 1996 Danbury Mint Gold Killebrew and a 1994 Gold ProMint Puckett. Here are the descriptions from the auctions:

"22kt Gold baseball card of longtime Minnesota Twins slugger HARMON KILLEBREW (1954-75). Card is #24 from Series 1 of the Danbury Mint Cooperstown collection issued in 1996 and is in excellent condition. His career stats appear on the back of the card."

    and

"22kt gold ProMint card of longtime Minnesota Twins outfielder KIRBY PUCKETT. The card was issued in 1994 with Serial #4668. A career summary appears on the back of the card."

    Hope that helps!
