When you send cards to be reholdered

When you send PSA cards to be reholdered, does PSA asign the same Cert # or do they asign a different # ? Need to Know

    All the one's Ive sent to be reholder came back with the same cert #. I was told that you would have to pay to have the card regraded to get a different #. That was an issue back when no one wanted the 0 cert #'ers. Now, with Psa reissueing the 9 certs it's not an issue.

    I just got back a group of 38 cards I sent in for reholdering (flip changed to add information) and all came back with the same cert numbers. This was sent on April 30, 2007 and was back in my hands by the end of May.

    Learn some history of the game. Join a vintage base ball team in your area and get out there.

    I was told by PSA that new certs are issued when a card is reholdered and they update the pop reports. That's customer service for you.

    Why would a pop report update be required on a reholder? Maybe they were talking about a grade review that earned an adjustment. All of my reholders came back with the same grades as before as expected.

    They told me they keep track of the cert numbers for the pop report so they would delete the old and insert the new cert. This doesn't change the report but validates it. However, people popping the psa holder and resubmitting would cause concern as it would screw up the report.

    My cards that have been reholdered have always come back with the same cert number. It would be terribly misleading if they gave the card a newer cert number without regrading it.
