I am getting my PAYPAL refund - for the cracked case that arrived via USPS

Guys -a month or two ago, i told you about getting a GReg Maddux PSA10 rookie card in a plain white $.63 envelope. When I opened the envelope the case was cracked in half in 2 pieces. I had stated that I paid $3 for shipping, and I DID NOT take the insurance. When I emailed the seller, his response was "Well, you did get the PSA10, right?"

Anyway I decided to go straight to PAYPAL Dispute and escalate a claim. Many of you had thought i was out of luck for not taking insurance, and some thought that PAYPAL would not pay a $15 claim....

WELL HERE'S THE UPDATE:

On 6/7 I got an email from PAYPAL that I have won my claim and will get reimbursed once the item is delivered back to the seller and confirmed with a tracking # that had to be entered on the paypal website.

So I stuck the garbage back in a plain white envelope, put enough paper towel around it so that it could go regular mail w/ DEL CONF...

I should be receiving my refund any day...

  • I hope that if the card was not damaged when you got it but gets damaged in the return you accept responsibility. Sorry didnt read other post so i dont know of the cards condition when you removed it.
  • as per my above post that started this thread, the card case was completely cracked in two pieces, and the card was creased straight across the center in same spot where the case broke in 2 pieces..i doubt the return trip via mail can get any worse...you obviously didn't read my above post...

Glad this worked out for you Craig. I seller would have to be a complete tool/idiot to ship a PSA card in a regular envelope.

And Glyn, read a post before you make a silly comment.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

I recently won a 1987 GReg Maddux Topps PSA 10. I thought it was a decent deal for around $12 and $2.50 in shipping. Well, until it showed up! The card arrived in a $.63 white envelope, with a very thin piece of re-used padded envelope around it. This is the first time it has happened to me, but the card WAS CRACKED IN TWO PIECES and the LOOSE CARD WAS BENT IN HALF. I sent the seller a message, and 2 days later didn't get a response, so I opened a PAYPAL dispute. Now the seller respondes with:

"Why the dispute, you got the PSA 10, didn't you"?

Any suggestions? Should I just proceed directly to a claim?

The most annoying thing here is the $.63 white envelope. I did consider the shipping charge in my bid, and would have no problem with it....IF THE CARD CAME IN ONE PIECE!!
