    Those look quite suspicious
1). something just doesn't look right with the font on the slab
2). the ANACS background on the reverse label doesn't look right
3). the mix of dates and mint marks on the US silver dollars is quite suspicious
4). all of the pillar dollars are exactly VF-30
5). no closeups of the entire label to see the details

Disturbing trend. If they can duplicate a Calloway driver to the hundreth of a millimeter, why couldn't they do it with a piece of plastic?

    I forgot to add...
    6). 0 feedback
7). questionable english....I love the question mark at the end:
"If you do not like the coins, you can return it to me within 15days, I will offer you all refund?"

Not really 0 Feedback - it just works out that way when you get 2 positives and 2 negatives image

    I've e-mailed ANACS and eBay.

Does ANACS slab them with the gin marks? Honestly I don't know...but I was thinking that NGC and PCGS don't for some reason.

  • The listings are not suspicious. I do not suspect any are legitimate. They are ALL fakes! But I'd be willing to bet that ebay lets them all complete. I know from experience trying to stop other counterfeitors residing in China.

Ha - I just read his feedback.....I think that answers most of my questions!

I think the TPGs are going to have to face this threat in the very near future with some innovative responses. Within 3 years, I predict a "tier 1" grading option (for an additional fee) by PCGS or NGC that imbeds some type of chip/rfid/etc in the label for verification purposes. If somebody is owns a $1000+ coin, the extra insurance might attract some significant attention from serious collectors.

As far as the negative feedback is concerned - Item won on 6/3, negative left 6/8 on a coin shipped from China???? I am somewhat inclined to believe the sellers followup to the feedback that the buyer never paid.

  • The listing description had this...

"It is extremely rare to have the high degree collects and keep the worth a work! The opportunity that do not miss the winning it."

I remeber that exact same expression being used to describe a genuine 1804 Silver Dollar (a VERY poor counterfeit) for sale by a seller in China that finally had his account suspended by ebay. Don't thank ebay. It took them forever.

So, is it the same person again, or are they using some kind of software translator that translates a legitimate sentence in Manadarin to gibberish in English?

The links do not work. They were probably removed.

    Anyone save pics?

Completed listings. Not sure if they were removed or not, but he now has 50% positive feedback.

A lot of the auctions were removed, but from Dimitri's link it look that $1000 worth of that junk was allowed to end. image

What's the deal? I thought eBay went away with private feedback?
  • I believe you can keep your feedback private as long as you are not actively listing items for sale. Once you wan to list again you have to make it public. Then as soon as the auctions end you can go private again.
  • Another fake slab?

I love how the NGC lable is left justified and off center. This is pretty sad, I'm guessing it's going to get alot worse before it gets better.

By the looks of his other ANACS slab on eBay, yes.
  • I'm not able to bring up anything from that seller. Completed or not.

It would be dangerous if they can get the real inserts and come up with the fake plastic. I wonder what would happen to the TPG guarantees if the coin appears to be a blatant forgery but no signs of tamper on the fake holder! image
  • FYI, it was posted ATS that suspicious NGC slabs can now be reported to:

    spoof@ngccoin.com

Does PCGS have an address or form for reporting suspect slabs? Though I haven't seen any funny PCGS holders...
