1850 General Tom Thumb interesting Date find

General Tom Thumb was a favorite of Queen Victoria and was called to be in her presence on at least three occasions. On his visit of 1846 a medal like this one was issued and is considered "R" Rare in British Historical medals. No reference can be found for a 1850 medal ever being struck, even though the General was performing at the Egyption Exhibition in London around that time. As you will note in the date picture this Date has been repunched from 46 to 50 on the original die. You can also see upper right shifted other overstamps that look like 1850. There is also no reference to these ever being in Gold Gilt. And interesting addition to my Victoria collection.
