Anyone else waiting for MARCH grade?

Is anyone else still waiting for a submission from the March special? Mine arrived at psa in late March, was finally logged in on April 11, and still no grades..... Hopefully soon!!!! They've offered April, May, and now June specials since mine arrived... I'm having a hard time sending anything to psa right now... sick of always waiting the full 45 days while others doing the same special get done in much shorter time frames...

I'm in the same boat. Based on recent experiences with CS and orders sitting for weeks on the problem pile , no email or call, I'll be taking a long break from submitting anything to PSA. It is all about the money now or maybe I was blind to it. Specials used to have a time limit to pop but now they have no time limit. I used to get emails stating my orders popped or cards have been added to a set. Now I get an email less then half the time. To many specials for my taste.

  • RED- I feel your pain!! I usually send at least 1 submission a month but haven't the past 2 months! I'm sick of the wait... see too many others get their grades before me!! I guess I'm just fed up with it all!

It appears that every submission now is essentially "going the distance". At least that seems more evenly balanced then it used to be.

Looking for additions or upgrades to my Graig Nettles master player set on the registry.
  • Mine popped yesterday from a log in date of 4/11! Customer service told me last week that I should expect 43-45 business days. The 4/11 to now time frame was 42 business days.

That bring to mind an interesting question...If you send a sub of cards, well-packed with all the correct info on the sub form and stickers on the back of each card saver, etc, but forget to write the level of service on the outside of the box, will that really cause a dealy or problem with the sub?

    Good Morning,
I have a different view of putting on the box that it is a Collectors Club Special, because I feel that if they see that on the outside of the box it goes into a pile and they grab a few every once in awhile and log them in to start the process. I Never put anything on the outside of the box with the thought process that if they don't know its a submission under some sort of special they will open it to see what's in it and have to log it in and get the process started. I have been doing this for a couple of years now and almost without exception my orders are logged in within 5-7 days of them leaving my hands at the Post Office. Right now I have 5 orders in the mill logged in as follows from shipping: 5 days 1 order, 6 days 3 orders, 7 days 1 order.

Actually Collect Non Sport, but am just so full of myself I post all over the place !!!!!!!
  • Still no popage. Unless it pops tonight so much for the 45 day theory. I realize that there is no guranteed turn around but it pretty much makes any "guranteed" turn around as worthless as PSA will add days for whatever reason suits them. I have never heard of anyone getting comped for PSA busting the turn around. I'm sure it's happened but I hear way more stories of guys thinking that they should be compensated but PSA responds that there was a show or somebodies dog died or whatever.

    Good day,
These are all from a thread last week, so us Non Sport guy's are not the only ones dealing with this. Although I do want to add my two cents that the poor manufacturing of Non Sport Vintage 60's stuff was in no way as professional as you Sports guy's stuff to begin with. So a lot of our stuff was not the greatest to begin with.

    Good day,
Got these posted on Friday. The Green Berets came back about where I expected I did them mostly to complete a set, although I had three pegged as clean 9's and the Horror Monster came back exactly as expected. But the Dino's, what a crock of you know what !!!!!!!!!!!
I broke a Cello pack of these and a Wax pack (No gum in this sets packs) and submitted 13 of the 14. These should have come back as mostly 9's and some 10's. Whats wrong, was the Graders Seeing eye dog asleep at the wheel !!!!!
Such BS it just gets frustrating !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Neil,
Look at them again objectively when they get home. That may provide same clarity.
We have all been through this though and it can be very frustrating.
My understanding and I have heard quoted is that the average card from a pack is a 7 or an 8. If you submitted 13 of 14 then that is not real different than expected per that quote (I believe attributed to Joe O.).
Frustrating never the less. Best of luck.

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    Good Day,
They are home and I have examined with a loop objectively. This was actually the lot where I submitted 14 of 14, the next break of a Cello and Wax was submitted 13 of 14 and is'nt back yet. They break down as follows.
1 each a small dimple on side (overlooked)- I'll live with the grade EX-MT 6
3 of the NM 7's, best I can tell were give NM 7's due to Centering Top to Bottom, OK I'll live with those
    The other 2 NM 7's I guess could be 7's or 8's .
Now the last 8 that were given 8's. Either the Grader didn't feed his seeing eye dog that morning, and/or didn't get, laid, or is just incompetent. Examing them with a 10 power loop I give them: 2-3 Gem MINT 10, and the other 5-6 MINT 9, and that is grading Harsh. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I believe contrary to what Joe has expoused in his columns that a grader would be looked at as too leniet if they were to give a 10 to most Vintage (50-60"s) Non Sport cards. And God Forbid they give a bunch from the same submission. Whether it is actual policy or just understood, I absotutely believe that is the fact of the matter.
From experience and over 5000 submissions, with about 40-50% being Pack and Cello breaks, there have only been one or two instances in a lot where there has been more than 1 or 2 Gem 10 given to a lot. The odds of this just don't add up, Period !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There had my say, which does absolutely no good except for me to Vent !!!!!!!!
    Thanks
    Neil

I have had contact with her. Not about a submission that took a long time, but rather submissions that were sitting at PSA for 3 days to 3 weeks and not having been checked in, but not on the problem shelf either. I really doubt there is any risk of having the grader hack your grades in retribution. Though, it's not out of the realm of possibility.

There probably isn't much to say. Either they saw a huge spike in business and are snowed under by NM 1982 Donruss commons or a couple graders quit and they're scrambling to find replacements. I can't think of any other scenerio that would explain it.

Well I called about my 4/3 submission; I asked why some people are receiving June specials back ,and why my March special has not popped . I was told that turnaround depends on which graders are available, what cards are included, how many higher level of service are submitted, and it is not a first come first serve type of thing. Talk about some brutal honesty, makes me want to submit another 1,000 cards!!! image

I think PSA made a costly miscalculation. It looks like they're still under the misguided impression that the bulk of their submissions come from either dealers or from collectors who are looking to profit by selling graded cards to registry participants. If this were true then PSA could basically flip the ol' bird to anyone complaining about the lack of a FIFO policy or whatever since there aren't any other options when grading commons/ low $ cards for resale. But for the average recreational submitter-- and by this I mean a guy who submits stuff just for the joy of getting grades back-- there ARE other options, and if PSA keeps taking 2 1/2 months (or more) to get people their cards back it wouldn't surprise me if more of these recreational submitters started to use another grader or just got out of the whole racket entirely.

We all add to the problem. I've read all the horror stories and still sent 30 of my own cards in today. As we type, someone else out there is probably preparing a 1000 card submission. PSA does not have to provide good customer service, because we all keep sending cards in. It really is a great business model when you think of it...poor customer service, ever-increasing fees and more volume each month!

I got sucked in to the set registry and my competitive nature took over. I'll bet there are others too.

That must explain their $1,000,000 loss over the last quarter--give or take a thousand cards
  • Here is the email I sent to Joe the other day in regards to some of this:

    Mr. Orlando,

I am writing you today because I feel I am at the end of my rope. The amount of monthly specials is getting out of hand to the point that customer service is horrible. With all these specials I'm sure it has increased the work load of all your employees but with the change in turn around times from a set amount of days to no specific time limit is horrible. Customers sending orders from this months special and already receiving them back and there are orders still pending from the March special. Mine is one of them. As of today it has been 50 days since # 612744 was logged in. That doesn't include the two weeks it sat there either waiting to be processed or on the problem shelf. In regards to the problem shelf I used to get a call from PSA if there was an issue with an order but it took a phone call from me to C/S to find out that there was a problem and remedy it. I have become very disillusioned with PSA as several of the last few orders I have sent have had s ome kind of issue. I by no means put the blame completely on PSA as I have been the cause as well but I feel the overall quality is sinking within PSA.

In regards to set registry, I used to receive emails informing me of card additons to my set but no more. I have had to check them myself to find that cards I requested sometimes months before are now added. I don't expect immediate results from set requests but the time between request and results seems to be getting longer.

In regards to grading I find that there has been quite a bit of inconsistency with what is and isn't graded. I have called Christy Gallant many times asking if certain cards are graded and been given an anwser and when they are submitted the have come back ungraded for several different reasons but the time, effort and money to send, recieve and resend cards is something I don't have a lot of so it can be very frustrating. I am not a large submitter but I feel PSA is about to lose me as a customer if these issues aren't addressed. I participate on your message boards and there has been a bit of grumbling about some of these same issues with special turn around time being the majority. Thank you for your time.

This is the reponse I got back:

You are always welcome to call me at the office. I am on the road right now but will be back in next week. I do not think the issue has anything to do with the amount of specials being offered but we can discuss whatever concerns you have.

    Take care,
    Joe

I tried to call Joe today but he was out to lunch. So I called C/S again. I asked if 52 business days was normal or reasonable for a order to be processed. The C/S rep said she would look into it and call me or email me back. I never got a call but my grades popped tonight. And it wasn't pretty.
