Phillies are right back in this thing. Frankly - as expected before the season began. Might be an interesting Summer for the Phillies after all. Hopefully an interesting Fall as well.

Did I get a wiff of some pitching????? WOW. Phils made the Mets look like the 80's Yankees! We clearly
are better than this team, not even close. The only thing the Mets can hope for is a long series against
    the Nats.

Can't believe the Phils swept them. The Phils have lots of question marks, so I don't think they'll catch Atlanta or NY in the long run.

Phillies had recently swept the Braves as well - quite a weird season so far. Be interesting to see if the Phils can gather some momentum here and keep winning - we'll see.

You guys do relize the mets are very banged up team right now. so are the braves. phillies didnt blow us out with there A team against our b team.

After the next 3 weeks if mets still hold the lead or are within 4 games of first...it will all be over with. when they get healthy in july august and september. there schedule is very easy.

enjoy your sweep. but talk about this cr@p when it matters in september. this isnt football not every game is tragic lose.

Banged up, smanged up...a sweep is a sweep!

Phils are rolling again right on to the World Series. Be interesting to see what American League team we're gonna beat - probably those Red Sox of Boston.

Mets back on track, shutting out the highest-scoring team in baseball for the first time all season!

Phillies bounced back with a nice win after a bad loss - sign of a good team.

Poor Pets didn't make it last night.

Pets remind me of a track race whereby the runner is still in the lead but is seen starting to breathe heavily. Yes the Pets are still in front but starting to breathe heavily, and gasping a bit for air. Don't worry about it though - the NL East will still be represented in the World Series, by the Phillies, so you'll still have a rooting interest and you can cheer for the Phillies to beat Boston.

Both teams have challenging series before they meet at the end of June. It will be interesting.

    Go Phils!!!!

Didn't you concede the NL East to New York about 2 weeks ago? You flip flop so often, you make John Kerry look good.

Don't worry, the Mets may be banged up a bit now, but come October, we'll be in the playoffs and the Sillies will be wondering why they came up short again.

In order to counteract the recent blockbuster acquisition of Jose Lima by the Phils, perhaps the Mets should take the nostalgic route and sign an old friend of their own -

"Minor leaguer Jose Lima, formerly of the Dodgers, Royals, Astros, Tigers, and Mets, is just tearing up the Mexican league. Playing for the Saraperos de Saltillo, he's tied for second in the league in victories , with a 9-3 record thus far, and has a 4.04 ERA. Interestingly he's still a workhorse, as he's leading the league in innings pitched, with 107."

At least you got the stones to continue posting during the Mets slide. Other Mets fans here must be too frightened of the Phillies.

Philadelphia is developing the most powerful one - two punch in major sports today with the Phillies - Eagles. Overall, no sports town does it better although Boston is up there with the Patriots and Red Sox combination.

Second place. The fun begins. Mets, Braves and Phils all have tough games this weekend.

Yankees on a streak, Cleveland and Detroit at the top of the AL Central.

At least the Phils are at home.

Phillyfan, the first stanza of that song was already copyrighted by SteveK, nice try though. The second verse doesn't make sense. It's a looong season and lots of baseball to go. The better team will prevail...

But you're still checking the box score every day during this 2-8 run...sweatin' it.

Maybe you could check the score of the A ball St. Lucie Mets for solace. They won six straight here recently. Half the major league outfield was here on rehab, Chavez, Milledge.

    Make sense now?

LOL, a few wins in a row and here you are chirping with your chest feathers all puffed out...We'll see who has the last laugh come September. 10 games in the middle of June does not a season make. There's lots of baseball left...just ask a Yankee fan.

    This just in:

    Mets lose again.

Mets still hanging on in first place but the Mets shouldn't have to worry about being in first place any more after the Phillies get done with them. Mets seem to be competitive against the bad teams but can't handle the good teams. Mets are a typical overpaid, undermotivated baseball team that basically has no chance of winning a championship because most of their players really don't care. Most of the Mets players just want to play the regular season to fulfill their contract obligation, make their money and go home.

Mets good enough to get into the playoffs? Probably - even likely. Mets motivated enough to win a World Series? No - ain't gonna happen!
