80's Fleer Basketball Sets

I know these are not the most sought after sets out there (with the exception of the '86 Fleer), but I love all of '86-'89 Fleer sets and feel like the '87, '88 & '89 sets are very underrated. Lots of HOF rookies and soon-to-be HOF'ers. Any other takers out there?

I was collecting the 88-89 set for a while, thought it was a nice looking set and small enough to complete, but ended up getting into other sets. The 89-90 set I believe is the first of the mass produced sets and do not see that being worthwhile to do in PSA graded form, IMO.

I agree - I'm a big fan of the '88-'89 set. It has some great rookies (Reggie Miller, Pippen, Stockton & Rodman). Whether I'm right or not - I consider the '90-'91 to be the first mass-produced set. I'm working on not one, but two '89-'90 Fleer sets, because I collected that year when I was young and it's super cheap to get in raw form. However the '89 PSA 10's are going for a decent amount right now on eBay since they're still low pop.

I agree - a really underrated set, with some great cards included. Do any of your guys have one of these sets completed on the registry? And on a side note - what do you think a set of '89 Fleer w/ 10's across the board would go for? I recently saw an '88 set all 10's (missing 5 cards) went for $4,000. And I thought that was super low. I was thinking the '88 set would go for $10,000 or so.

89 fleer is also one of my favorites...apart from missing the david robinson rc its got EVERYTHING from the PEAK of basketball excellence. a would say a straight 10 set would be almost impossible LOL...i cracked 4 wax boxes and 3 rack boxes and only could put together 1 truly centered mint set....i may grade it some day but not right now.

I bought 15 factory sets (for $50, funny enough) and cracked a couple of boxes and I had quite a few submit-worthy cards. I just sent in a huge lot of them for this month's special. I'm hoping to put together some nice lots for sale, as well as working towards that Master Set.
