Broken Bats

Seems like there has been a lot of these this year

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

I was thinking that too. I saw a game recently and one of the broadcasters commented on what he thought was an increase in broken bats too and they said they thought it could be because a lot of batters have switched to different kinds of wood for their bats . . . like maple instead of ash.

Two things were named as probable culprits, first the change in the wood used, which you noted and the increased shaving of the handles has reduced the amount of stress a bat can handle.
