The shape of the mintmark is still round, so that's the round O. Also, on 1889-O Oval O's the date is a far date, and the date here is a normal date. The same mintmark was used on 1888-O Oval O's. Photos here.
I understand the confusion, I went through this same thing myself a few years back. Forget the inside of the mintmark, look at the shape (of the outside of the mintmark).
