    It was nice of them to extend the decimal spaces out like that so the Royals wouldn't be stuck with just a '0' image

    I'm not sure if that's comforting.

    Chance of dying from intentional self-harm: 1 in 9,380

    Chance of dying from an assault: 1 in 16,421

    Chance of dying from a car accident: 1 in 18,585

    Chance that Earth will experience a catastrophic collision with an asteroid in the next 100 years: 1 in 5,000

    Chance of Royals making the 2007 playoffs: 1 in 15,848

    If someone in a Vegas sportsbook wants to give me 3-to-1 odds on the Yankees making the playoffs and 22-1 odds on winning the division, I'll gladly put $100 on each.

    I'd love to be out $200 on this one, but I could console myself with the winnings if they make it.

    I know. That's Vegas. I was referring to the original link which said the Yankees had a 27% chance of making the playoffs and a 4.4% chance of winning the AL East.

    That roughly corresponds to 1-in-4 (or 3-to-1) odds of making the playoffs and a 1-in-23 (or 22-to-1) chance of winning the division (let alone the World Series). I don't suppose these folks are ready to put their money where their mouths (or keystrokes) are; I'm sure the sportsbooks wouldn't...
