Man, Alanis Morissette is NO Whitney Houston when it comes to singing the Star Spangled Banner.

She looks better than she has in the past, though.

NBC must be thinking "why did we ever agree to televise this?"

Hockey is destined to remain a very small niche sport in the US, mass appeal is never going to happen. The NHL likes to talk
about "growing" the sport but it is a losing battle.

That point is so obvious to everybody but the NHL. The irony is that by trying to cultivate a broad fan base, the league has alienated a large chunk of its diehard fans.

Damn, how did the NHL get on NBC? Did the Lifetime contract expire?

Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

NBC is paying them no rights fees to carry the Stanley Cup so they can make at least a little money from commercials.

It is sort of a charity case for both sides, NBC makes a small amount of money from commercials and the NHL gets some exposure on
a major network (not much good it is doing them with such pathetic ratings however).
