Background on '03-'04 NBA Exquisite?

I was hoping someone had some insight pertaining to a few questions I had surrounding this issue of Exquisite. I just checked eBay and was amazed at how much some of the LeBron James' are going for. Again, this isn't news to anyone that these cards are going for so much, but I had a few questions, regardless.

-How much were cases/boxes of these when they were released?
-What were the odds of pulling a James/Wade/Anthony high dollar card?

Funny you should ask.

Someone recently bumped my case break a few days ago actually. I busted a case back when it was released. Retail was $499/box, I got them for $425 as I have a standing VIP 15% discount at the store. I pulled a really nice 2 color wade rc #/99. I sold it for $550, I've since seen it sell for more than $6k. Ooops.

As far as the odds go...

There is one pack per box, 5 cards per pack/box. You are guaranteed 1 rookie card per pack/box. The rookies come in two flavors, /99 and /225. The are 36 different rookies each with /25 and /99. So your odds of getting any Lebron is 1/36, and a few times tougher than that to pull a high dollar /99.

The odds would be less than 1/36 since the top draft picks were /99. There are also the gold rookies numbered to the players jersey so the lebron /23 would be a harder pull than some of the others but not as hard as the gold Wade rookie auto patch /3
