What am I doing wrong?

I have been trying to sell an error quarter on Ebay for the past week but haven't got any bids or inquiries. Several others have sold in the last 10 days . One for moon money .
Mine is a '95 Washington quarter with the obverse clad layer missing. Is it because of my low feedback? Or because I don't take Paypal?
Here is the item number; 270125265175
Or look it up this way : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK:MESE:IT&viewitem=&item=270125265175&rd=1&rd=1

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

    Low feedback and no Paypal will definitely limit the number of bidders that will hit your auction. That being said I think your biggest problem is your photo. You should have photos of both sides of the coin and they should be much larger than the one photo you have up. The key to selling any coin on eBay is good photos, lots of them.

    Thanks cladiator, I will remedy that the next time I run an auction. This one runs out in a few hours anyway.

  • As a purchaser, I would generally feel more comfortable paying with Paypal. Low feedback is not necessarily a deterent.

    I had a bad experience with paypal and my bank a few yrs ago so now I do everything with M.O. or check.
    I live in a small town and reputation and your word is king around here. Like one members sig line says: there are two rules.... say what you are going to do and then do it. Guess I'm just naive in my old age...LOL

  • As a sometime seller on eBay I too don't have paypal. I think that hurts sales. But especially you lose the impulse buyers. In America today everything is expected to be instant. Lots of sales are sporadic
    impulse decisions. That's the reason paypal works even though it costs the seller more. I still don't have paypal but I stopped selling too.

    When you don't take paypal you eliminate alot of people, with paypal people feel like they have protection when buying, which they do.
    Look at completed sales and in most cases no paypal equals less money, less bids.

    I guess I'm going to have to come into the 21st century.(kicking and screaming all the way).
    I'm just used to doing business the old fashioned way. Your word is your bond and so is mine.
    Too bad things aren't that way anymore.

    Thay are still that way for some, the problem is in most cases we do not know who we are dealing with.

    These are the things I look for in a safe auction:

    1 - Good Feedback
    2 - High Feedback
    3 - Recent Feedback within the last 30 days
    4 - Good Clear Pictures
    5 - Multiple Pictures
    6 - Certified by major grading company
    7 - Take Paypal

    1 out of 7 is an auction that I would stay away from 99 out of 100 times.

    It's great you are in a small town where trust is the most important thing. Unfortunately, you are not trying to sell this within your town. You are trying to sell this to someone, somewhere across the USA if not the world.image

    Those ideals are good. I live by them as well. However, once you get on the net, it is too easy to say one thing and do another, and even get away with it image
    Many people realize that and are much more cautious.

    I have no idea what the item should go for, but if you expect it to go for a nice amount, and are having some problems selling, think about consigning. Talk to Russ. He takes consignments, has great pics, is reasonable and quick with things, and has quite an ebay following.

    The % that you pay him may be less than the increase value/profit you see by having him sell it for you.

    He has:
    * Trust
    * Reputation
    * High feedback
    * Great photos
    * Does all the work (incl mailing the item and handling the funds)
    * Gives you an invoice
    * Pays you quickly once all is said and done

    I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
