Need some sniping advice

I have been selling and buying cards for a couple years now on ebay (tri-cdeals), and have never used a sniping service. I have been thinking about it but I have a few questions...
1) Which services are legit, fly by night, etc???
2) Is there a cost for using a sniping service?
3) How secure are they with my info that I assume I have to give them?
Any help the members of this board can give me would be greatly appreciated.....John

  • I use Justsnipe and have not had any major problems. They've submitted my snipe too early once or twice, but other than that and their servers going down one time, no problems.
I believe they offer 5 free snipes a week, so you can check them out. 5 freebies a week wasn't nearly enough, so I signed up for their monthly service for $5. A very good investment, IMO.

I had a problem a week or so ago; snipes were going off with 10 seconds to go. However, no problems before or since.

    1) justsnipe.com is what I use. No problems so far after a couple of years.

    2) 5 free per week. I think it's $5 a month for unlimited. Don't remember because they haven't charged me in months. This happened once before and in a fit of moronic behavior I actually told them. They didn't charge for the "back rent." Won't contact them this time.

    3) Nothing so far on the private info. More trouble with compromised Paypal accounts than anyone else.

http://www.biddingscheduler.com is free and has worked well for me a couple dozen times or so.

I switched from justnipe to Gixen and have been very happy. I almost never bid without it. It's free and has unlimited snipes per month. You may be limited to ten scheduled snipes at any one time, but that's not a problem for me. (this thread just reminded me that I forgot to set a snipe...and the card just ended. Damn it!)

Esnipe has never failed me. They ask you to buy bidpoints after a 2 weeks free trial (i think). All depends on how much you snipe .........no complaints yet.

    justsnipe

MANY folks still like to snipe "manually." That is fine and fun,
    if one has the time.

The ONE thing that folks must not do is to bid on anything,
if there are more than a few seconds left on an auction. To
do so is to bid against yourself.

  • I used to use esnipe, but just snipe was cheaper. At $5 per month for unlimited snipes ($60 per year), it was much cheaper the esnipe. I buy a lot an snipe on everything. The bidpoints were costing be over $300 per year. Just snipe is the way to go if you are an active buyer

I used www.ezsniper.com for about a year and a half and there service was great...You just had to pay for it. But I just switched to www.gixen.com last month. It is a free sight but only allow's you to have 10 auctions scheduled for bid at one time. My be this is a good way for me to stop buying the things I really dont need... Paul
  • The best by far is auctionraptor.com. I used esnipe.com for a while but they missed a ton of bids and charged per snipe. Auctionraptor lets you snipe as much as you want for one price and is great for organizing your bids as well as your won and lost items (time left, price, seller). They even send you an email when your snipe bid is passed by a current bidder. I find it to be as valuable a resource as vintagecardprices.com. They give you one month to try it out and the annual rate is very reasonable. I forget what it is. If you or anyone else signs up for auctionraptor, would you mind giving me the referral credit (Jeremy Haberman jeremyhaberman@comcast.net)?

Gixen.com also. Haven't had any problems at all with it. My wife's happier since I don't sit talking to the computer screen as auctions are getting ready to end anymore.
