1995 Topps 1000/3000 Base vs. Insert

Hello all...and hopefully PSA graders,

I recently got this off ebay from one of the 4-corners (4-corners-2 I think).

However it is a base card rather then the insert as labeled. Here are the Steve Young versions of both.

The inserts and the base have the same number so I can see the easy confusion. I only bring this up as 4-corners appears to have graded a bunch of these cards, different players. All of which were base cards and all of which are labeled as the insert. Perhaps someone at PSA could fix these in the system, including the Pop. report, which is now off quite a bit on these issues.

Thanks,
Mark

Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

The insert you pictured called a Booster, but you're right- PSA goofed. There actually is no 1000/3000 subset as those cards were part of the regular set. There shouldn't even be a 1995 Topps 1000/3000 subset in the pop report.

In the 2005 Standard Catalog of Football cards, the insert is called "1995 Topps 1000/3000 Boosters." The like 1994 insert set is labeled "1994 Topps 1000/3000" so to me they have always been the "1000/3000" cards.

In the 1995 version it is the first 41 cards in the base set, the 1000/3000 base cards, that are in the "Boosters" version as well.

I imagine you understand this CD but I am just trying to make it more clear for everyone....including those that change the Pop reports.

PSA screwed up a lot of pop reports by mislabeling slabs and starting new insert and subsets for categories that had already been started. My feeling is that as long as the cards are out there somewhere with the wrong flips they won't change anything in the pop reports. Needless to say, it's frustrating when you have these cards or are bidding on them and they are mislabeled.

I purchased the Barry Sanders card that is the base card and part of his basic set, but it too has the tag stating 1000/3000 on it and was told by PSA that I could not add it because it was an insert card, which it looks nothing like the second Young picture posted. I e-mailed back with stating that others sets in the registry had the same exact card I did listed in their sets, but the tag did not have the 1000/3000 after the name, and have yet to receive a response going on 2 weeks now. Good to know I'm not the crazy one here and did purchase the correct card I was looking for.

You can kindly explain to them that there is no such thing as a 1995 Topps 1000/3000 insert set, so PSA made an error in labelling your card that way. The only insert set is the Boosters which would be labelled that way when graded.

Exhibit #78653456 in the ongoing "PSA has no clue how to identify football cards" case.
No such details will spoil my plans...
