Another Satin Finish Lincoln thread...

I was just wondering if those who have Lincoln Registry sets wouldn't mind telling how they decided to either go with the regular business strike or the satin finish lincolns in their circulation strike sets.
Points? Aesthetics? any thing else......?

I own 11 Lincoln registry sets. I own all the BS coins in MS67 for 05, 06, and 07. I own all the SF coins in
MS69 except my 06 is an MS70. So, since PCGS allows either example to be entered into my sets, I had a
choice to make. PCGS has forced collectors to have to make this choice. I've entered the MS69 and MS70
SF coins into my sets for one shameful reason. I like the extra points these coins command over the MS67
BS coins. I label my reason shameful because I'm a true collector, however, I've sacrificed my belief for a
few registry points. My belief is that BS coins belong in the basic set and the SF coins belong in the variety
set. Well, there you have it! The absolute shameful truth.
PCGS, please help! Require the correct coins in the correct set. Oh yeh, and please require, both, BS & SF
coins in the complete set. After all, doesn't complete mean lacking no parts?

I too own all of the BS lincolns in 67RD and all of the SF lincolns in 69RD. I decided long ago to put my business strike lincolns (05 and up) in my basic sets and my satin finish lincolns in my variety sets. I also just entered my 07P & 07D business strikes in my variety sets for the time being...since the satins are not out yet for this year.
Had this been 3 years ago (when I really cared about points and my standing within the registry) then I might have put my SF's in all of my sets to get the points. To be honest, the point difference there really is not going to make or break your set rating. I really prefer to own both the BS and SF versions in the highest grade that I can afford.
It's all just a matter of choice for some people. RegistryNut chooses to do it a little differently than I...but that doesn't make it right or wrong!

Bob,
Your reply makes sense and is probably quite accurate. But, I must admit, like Toby, that I found your choice of words very entertaining.

Like leaving the uncirculated sets as is, and a variety set that uses both coins.
Yes the variety set SHOULD require both, but the UNCIRCULATED set should GO BACK to the business strike coins like were required, (in the Roosevelt Dime set as an example) since it began in 1946.
Although you wouldn't know it from the pics, the luster on these babies is absolutely blinding! (Thanks CD )
