Very interesting stuff which true historians of the game can appreciate:
Baseball's Greatest Comebacks
"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."

1973 Mets 12 games July September 21
No team seemed to want to win the NL East in 1973, and in some ways, the Mets sort of survived to remain on top. On July 8, Yogi Berra's Mets were in last place, 12 1/2 games behind the Cubs. They didn't really turn anything around in July, however, and they still trailed by more than 10 games as the month ended. In August, they posted a winning mark as their offense started to put up some runs, behind Rusty Staub, John Milner, Cleon Jones and Wayne Garrett. But it was the team's pitching that would ultimately make the difference. The incomparable Tom Seaver was joined by a trio of southpaws: Jerry Koosman, Jon Matlack and George Stone. In the bullpen, Yogi consistently called for another lefty, Tug McGraw, an eccentric, hyper man0child who incited fans with his glove-thumping and animated antics on the hill. McGraw had actually started two games in July, and was rocked in one of them for seven runs, but Yogi placed him back in the pen and he responded down the stretch. The team was still mired in last place on August 30, but just six games behind the Cardinals. What the Mets did was to basically have the best September of any team in their division, while St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Chicago played .500 ball. As late as September 17, the "Amazin' Mets" were still 3 1/2 out, but they snatched four in a row from the Bucs to knock that team out of first. Then they swept a two-game set from St. Louis to knock the Birds down the standings. Going into the final weekend, it appeared to be a two-team race between the Mets and Pirates. The Bucs dropped a pair of games to Philadelphia to fall out, and St. Louis inched back in with three straight wins while the Mets were idled by rain. After dropping the first half of a doubleheader on Saturday to the Cubs, the Mets led St. Louis by a half-game, but Koosman defeated Fergie Jenkins 9-2 in the second game to give New York a full-game edge. When Seaver won his 19th game the next day behind a homer by Jones and four hits by Staub, the Mets squeeked out the division title. McGraw was on the rubber for the last three innings, pitching three frames of shutout relief. Over his last 19 appearances, McGraw was practically unhittable, posting a 0.77 ERA while allowing just 22 hits in 47 innings, and fanning 38. He saved 12 of the Mets last 23 victories.

<< <i>If the Yankees catch Boston I think that the sox are going to go down in history..... >>
Oh yea there is NO DOUBT about it, if we allow the Yanks to catch us we will not hear the end of it. There wont be any excuses for us either, Im already thinking if this happens I wont be able to start a Sox thread next year because of the Ammo NY fans will have.

You know, no one is going to care if the Yanks catch you in the division if the Red Sox happen to again take home that gold/silver base with those 30 flags sticking out of it again after the end of this year.
