I'm ticked...now I need an answer and some help...

Okay, here's the story. For the last couple of months I've been buying cards off of ebay from the guy who's store I shop at locally. They're not his cards. He sells them on ebay for other customers. I've been buying a lot for really cheap and then flipping them. So, today my wife comes home and tells me that my sister-in-law (her sister) has been spying on me and is pissed at me. Apparently she's made because I'm spending all my money on baseball cards instead of paying off the grill I bought from her husband. What she doesn't understand is all the money that I've been using to pay him off is from flipping those cards.
I REALLY HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE PUT THEIR NOSE IN MY BUSINESS!!! So, apparently this has been going on for quite some while now without my knowledge of it. My wife didn't know either. How can I block my sister-in-law from seeing my account. Like what I've been buying and selling? Because I called her and told her to keep her nose out of my business, but she won't. Is it possible to do this? I mean I dont' want her to see everything I'm doing. Does any of this make sense? I mean she's really putting a damper on my baseball card buying/selling.

Any help would be appreciated.

You'll have to create a new Ebay account. Use it to buy, and your original to sell. Just don't share your new ID with that spying biaatch.

I don't see what the problem is.

Is your wife mad at you? As long as your sis in law isn't getting your wife mad at you, what does it matter. Explain it to her like you did here. That it takes time to buy, grade and then sell.

Are you paying off your bro in law as you agreed upon?

And/or do what Talon has posted.

    Create a new ebay id?

Tell your wife to tell her that you're flipping the cards to help pay off the grill. That's they key though, have your wife do the talking. If your sis-in-law is ticked off at you, then it won't matter what you tell her directly.

You could also agree on an ammount to pay back every month too. Stick to that, and she'll have no reason to gripe.

Great minds think alike!! That was my first thought too. Only create an Ebay auction to sell the pictures - since she does monitor all activity there. imageimageimage

But then I do like to p1ss people off alot. image

Guro why did you buy the grill from here in the first place what so special about this grill? I myself would
go buy a new grill before buy a family members used one. Also how much was the grill just asking because
if you can't afford to buy a grill out right you may not want be spending all your money on baseball cards
    just a thought.

If the family is this tight and the sister in law has nothing better to do than pry into your business,
this is the least of your problems. When you solve this problem she will find another. Your account is
not your problem, your sister in law is. Can't do a thing about it cause then your wife will be mad at
you. Live with it my friend. Aren't in laws wonderful?

    //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

HOW is this not the sister-in-law's biznez?

The creditor-husband is likely telling his wife, "As soon as Guru pays
me, I will buy you" (whatever it is she happens to be witching for).

The expression of anger in families is usually a result of cumulative
disappointment. Family members tend to cut each other a reasonable
amount of slack, but revolt at "the straw that broke the camel's back."

"Neither a lender nor a borrower be," is good advice for family members
    to heed.

  • Don't open a new account because of your sister in-law. Tell her to mind her own business and that you'll pay her husband by flipping these cards. If she don't like it tell her to shove it up her a$$ and that in the future you will not be buying anything from her or her husband again. Tell her that you would appreciate that she keeps her nose out of your business. If you don't confront this "lady" she will keep doing things like this. Nip it, Nip it, Nip it!!!!!!!

    You've got two problems:
    1. A debt to your sister-in-law's husband.
    2. A nosy sister-in-law.

If you are bothered so much by these problems that you're posting about it on the Internet, I would guess that these problems are really getting to you.
You must take charge of the situation.

First, make paying off that debt a priority in your life - even if it gets in the way of your card collecting.
Second, never ever borrow money from a relative unless your life depends on it. Buying a grill doesn't qualify: getting bailed out of jail does.
Third, chances are your debt is causing trouble in your marriage. At the very least your wife is getting an earful from her sister, and the only way to shut her up is to pay off the debt. That will make points with your Wife and help your marriage in the long run.

Did you ever pay the grill off yet?

Just do it man! She cant be that bad looking!

  • Yea, I got the grill paid off. Then I sold it in payment for someone to come do work around my house all summer. They told me that they would come do yard work and house repairs other than mowing the lawn all summer if I'd give them the grill. I used it once and it almost fell apart on me. I'm pretty sure I got the better end of the deal.

No mowing the lawn?? What a panty-waste.

  • Since I grew up with that being the family business I'm really picky about the lawn. I liked it cut and trimmed a certain way. So far, my dad and I are the only one's I've found that can do it that way. I'm sure it's not a secret or anything, but I'm just really OCD about the lawn. You know what I mean?

    tru dat, tru dat.
  • Yea, now that the grill is paid off she realized that there's some money in certain cards on Ebay. She went and bought a case of 07 A&G and then tried to sell me a box for $130's. I was like, WHAT THE H-E-DOUBLE HOCKEY STICK is going on here. I told her, I can get them most certainly cheaper than that pretty much anywhere.

    we've all been there.
  • I didn't marry my wife for her family. Although i know that comes with it. But, my wife is pretty incredible. She just recently started reading comics. She's into the Birds of Prey. She's also collecting Black Canary figures and whatnot. She's never read a comic in her life until about a month ago when she found my old one's in the closet. She became interested at BAM!!!
Tonight she made hot wings for me before I came home for the Yanks vs. Tribe. She even made lemon pie. She's pretty awesome not just for doing stuff, but she's just pretty awesome all around. She listens me go on rants about cards and discussions on here when I know she probably could care less, but she sure acts like she cares. Pretty awesome.
The sister, well, I don't know. She's just weird I guess. I think she does things just to piss me off. I don't let it really bother me anymore. Especially since she doesn't know what the heck she's doing when it comes to cards. She thought it would be a quick buck. Ha ha. Jokes on her.

Are you overdue on a pay back date? If so, relax, you deserve some criticism and scrutiny.
  • Wait... what? Guru... your sister in law... who is nosey about money... bought a CASE of 2007 Allen & Ginter? A CASE?!

Who is she reselling them to?! Certainly not you, or anyone smart enough to get boxes for $110-or-less.

And what kind of crazy woman, who knows nothing about trading cards, tries to make a buck off of flipping modern boxes?

I'm glad that if I marry my g/f, my sister in law would simply be a hot 18-year-old whose main flaw is making me so glad she's no longer jailbait.

Does you sister-in-law have an ebay account?
We could bombard her with silly questions.
  • It's funny all of this has come up. She's now decided to admit she was doing that to get under my goat. I told her it didn't. She apologized today at lunch with her family. She admited to being a b*tch. She told me today she's going to stick with what she knows.
  • Simply set up a new account to both buy and sell. Don't disclose your new ID to anybody.
  • She bought a case of A&G to get your goat? Or, just said she did? Big difference.

If she just said so, OK, she's just a beyotch.

If she actually bought them, then she's certified nutso... send her in to PSA. Gem Mint 10 (Crazy). Maybe "Not Holdered, Evidence Psycho."

Well this looks like Saturday nite stuff.

    Guru

I would NEVER give you advice that I wouldn't take myself.

    My best take?

Ignore the crap outa her - from what I've read - she's bad news and is tryin' to suck you in.

As long as your wife knows what you're doing? I wouldn't give a rats ass what she thinks.

And I agree with anyone here who says - don't buy anything from relatives - it can only come back to bite ya in the ass. Exception are probably rare.

    That was funny.

As for this story, once we got to the sister-in-law A&G case I had to get the wading boots cause it was gettin' pretty deep. I think it started out legit and somehow went south.
  • Allen I swear to you that this happend. She knew that I liked the stuff and for whatever reason goes out of her way to try to ruin my life and make me miserable.

Edit to add: I'm done with this thread guys. I'm finding it making me more angry at the situation. This happend a while back, the grill thing that is, and I'm finding that this is interfering now with my "happy time" on the boards. So, feel free to continue to comment, but I gotta move on for my own sanity. Thanks!
