1952 Topps psa 7 MANTLe on ebay..oh wait no it isn't by our boardmember?

I just hate sellers like this, did he have to write gloss, gloss, gloss in the title so he "had no room" to put the o/c qualifier. Also, I am wondering if he is a memeber of these boards. I senthim an email saying I would bid on NONE of his items for this misleading title. just my 2 cents

mantle 7..........................o/c

I don't get this. He has already sold that card and received positive feedback.

It irritates me also when sellers put the grade and not the qualifier in the title. Most are done intentionally, why?? Dont know!!! Do they think if i click on the auction and then see that qualifier, im going to say oh, ok...thats still ok.........ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Its almost as bad as the "not auto" listings.

Ya know addict, if you log into ebay, and look at ending soonest and see something good, you might just bid/snipe with reading carefully. IT DOES HAPPEN. I think I MAY have even done it once or twice image I was at a show a few months back and heard about a 52 topps Mantle PSA 8 for 18k. I RAN over to the table...just to see a PSA 8 o/c at LEVI'S TABLE image

With such a high profile card does it really matter? It's not like there's 1000 listings of 52 mantles everyday.

Sweet card and if I had some coin,...... I'd buy a 68 Camaro instead, or pay off what I owe on the house.

Looks like he had a NPB last time on this card. Maybe the guy payed his e-bay fees and they reached a
    mutual agreement for feedback.

i agree with ted 100 %. if a seller is misleading in any of his auctions, i wont bid on any of them.

The sellers in these cases are either:
    1) people of low integrity or
    2) so ashamed of their merchandise that they cannot come clean.

    Either way AVOID

I wish i had his response, "I take it by your email I did something to hurt YOU personally" I should throw a 50k bid out there and retract it
  • storm888storm888 Posts: 11,701 ✭✭✭
Allegedly, the original buyer backed out and left FB as a
token of gratitude for not being NEGd.

I was going to try to buy this card, but the guy will not
take PayPal. I asked about local-pickup, and got no reply.

I know one of the bidders and he says the seller is OK.

Will this card make it into a 5 slab?

The top right edge is a little spookey.

NO!!! they are hoping you just bid/snipe without looking at the card since it is "such a good deal", which it would be for a straight up PSa 7 image

no doubt! The description doesn't even mention it, but you HAVE to look at the card you are bidding on ;0

I just went through this BS on ebay, the guy did not list the OC in the description either. Shame on me for bidding on the title and not looking at the card but it was a psa 8, anyways after talking to the guy about it he withdrew my bid and all was good. This situation is on a much larger scale ofcourse and is unacceptable IMO

I wouldn't buy anything worth 15k through the mail. If I spent 15k on a collectable, I'd spend an extra $300 for a plane ticket to pick it up.

The seller has relisted the subject card.

He has a pretty nice 1952 registry set.

The gloss gloss gloss in the title sounds like Girls Girls Girls on a strip club's marquee, lol.

Not putting OC in the title is lame for any card, much less a Mantle RC.

Lot of coin for a No Paypal auction.

    Yep, the thread did it.

PSA chat room haters, this one is for you. They really have those?? I still managed to keep the gloss gloss gloss!! I just sold a PSA 1 Mantle Rookie successfully a few weeks ago.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

yes they really have those, and what we also have is guys that waste peoples time by not including the qualifier in the titles.

    I can't stand it too.

At least on this Mantle auction you have a clear scan to catch the OC qualifier unlike, oh, say THIS auction. If you were not specifically looking for, and familiar with, PSA qualifiers I could see someone easily getting tricked on this one. Not sure how to report this one to eBay, if at all, to try to spare someone from getting duped.

That one - and hundreds of others - are a slam-dunk for SNAD
    claims via PayPal.

I just do not understand why sellers invite this kind of problem
for themselves. Maybe most folks just do not complain.

But storm, my question is would Paypal rule in the buyers favor here? Is the item CLEARLY not as described? It is, in fact, a PSA 9... just with a qualifier and a photo, albeit (intentionally?) poor was provided. The only potential out a bidder could have is perhaps if the value in the item description (in this case, the seller states it books for $450) was for a PSA 9 NQ. I do not have a current SMR, so I am not sure as if this is the case or not. Regardless, is Paypal savvy enough that they would consider this factor and agree the item was not as described on that point alone, again keeping in mind a photo was provided and you CAN make out the (OC) qualifier if you really look?

    Yes.

And, so would any credit-card issuer.
