<< <i>just goes to show how many dumb coin collectors are out there in my shockingly straight forward statement. this proves it.
anyone who bought one for more then 25 dollars is a loser in my book.
collect what you want, but be ready for others to laugh at you when they think it is junk. >>
Wait a second.... I don't even know what these are ... I must be the biggest loser. Who cares what others think ? From what I just read here, people who bought one for $100 turned around and sold it for $175 within a week's time. This is capitalism at it's finest. Who is a loser ? Maybe there are dumb collectors, but there are brilliant capitalists at work and ebay is feasting during a famine.
Remember the old saying: "one man's trash is another man's treasure" ! Money will always chase after money. Laughing at people going to the bank to make a deposit makes NO CENTS , to me
<< <i>I just called the Franklin Mint. They will produce additional lots of 1,000 for $650, or 65 cents per coin, delivered in 6 business days. >>
The studio doesn't own exclusive rights to the design? You are talking "SIlver Surfer" stickers, right?

I doubt if they are being purchased by coin collectors. More likely they are being purchased by comic or movie memorabilia collectors. They would appeal to those groups to a much greater extent than coin collectors.
First of all, these are NOT numismatic collectibles... they have a value because of collectors of movie memorabilia, or Franklin Mint memorabilia or whatever else.
Criticisizing these collectors who pay for the Silver Surfer coins is similar to criticising someone who pays money for a rare 45 rpm single of the Beatles with the original dust cover...
Or it's like criticising someone who bought a 3-D Star Trek chess game...
it has nothing to do with numismatics, so hold off on your criticisms.

I would amend that to say 25 cents, but oh, okay, I suppose it has some novelty value. I'll go a dollar. Five dollars, tops. (And then I would call myself an idiot.)

They are not stickers is my understanding... I think they are paint or enamal.
The point is people start paying these amount for something that could be produced in additional mass quantities....... A fool is born...

Tulips are tulips, IMO. Not all tulips are numismatic.
