There are a few pieces I'm planning to bid on in that sale. Doubt I'll win any with the way my luck has been lately.

The description is a bit confusing though... is it a proof or business strike? Also, if it brought $29,000 on January 8, why is it's estimated value now $15,000-20,000?

    Color me lost...

Are those fabric marks (presumably from a bag) on Victoria's neck?

It does look like a textile pattern.

However, the coin is a proof, and I doubt it ever sat in a bag with other coins, as such. But it could have spent time in a cloth-lined container of some sort.

It is likely a circulation strike.

Coin sold for ~$30K in HWCA January 2007 and is already up for resale at Goldbergs six months later? Despite the fact that Heritage routinely gives away "coupons" for such desirable items for zero seller's comission in case the buyer would like to (re)sell one day? I have at least 4 of these coupons for some of my Cyprus proofs, no expiration date and they apply to me or any member of my family.

But most of all, a $30K coin that still remains uncertified? There's something I really don't like here, I just don't know what exactly. There must be an interesting insider's story that I don't know. The explanation that the January buyer all of a sudden needs the money, but still goes to another auction house is not convincing.

That's what I alluded to earlier: It sold in January for $29K but the estimate this time around is $15-20K???

What caused it to lose $10K+ in value?

I'm guessing that beneath that gorgeous color, major problems lie...

The estimate has been exceeded, the auction looks closed at $23K ,hammer. If the winner got it through ebay, add $4600 to this, a total of $27600, if a floor or absentee Goldberg bidder, $1150 less, that is $26450.
