Bidding... the W&M Crown that I though t would fetch about 800 went for 1400... the 1911 Pattern Double Florin went for 800 against an est of 350 and my bid of 575 (dollars). It appears that the Bulls are still running across the pond. I had what I thought was an aggressive bid an the 1696 Crown that was EF... I think that was a lost cause as well.

There are two other major auctions closing this week and if this is an indication of what is to come... well, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.image

    Sorry you got killed, Kat.

However, there are still some great deals on British coins on ebay.

    I was there.

There were a lot of major players in the room, and there was - to me, anyway - a surprising amount of floor activity.

I only bought two lots in the world section, both "large lots". The best hidden treasure was a nice proof 1926 Halfpenny.

Better to be slaughtered as a bidder than as a consignor, methinks.
