Out of the 63,758 PSA cards listed on ebay only 8,836 of them have bids. Is the market falling or are people just asking way to much with opening bids.

More likely most bidders have snipes set for the cards they want. There's no point in bidding early unless you want to get outbid or bumped up.

Earleir this week was .20 listing day.... that may account for a lot of cards listed at extremely inflated opening bids. You may want to check again next week and also check completed listing instead of current auctions.

You got it. On .20 listing weeks, you're going to see outrageous numbers like what you stated on cards without bids. It would still be high on a normal week, but not quite to those proportions.

Exactly. I have 61 items on ebay right now. Only five of them have bids. If it wasn't for .20 listing day, I would have no auctions up right now.
I think the market is cooling down a little. I have noticed prices drop. Sadly, but I think it is slowing down a little. I think some people may be losinginterest becauseof that scum bag who is playing now is about to pass up Hank Aaron is causing people to turn away from the sport. Sadly, I am one of them. I still love the old cards, as I always will, but Bud needs to get his butt in gear before more people lose there love for the game.

I would tend to agree with this as current Baseball has forever lost me as a fan too. However, it looks like attendance is actually up the past couple of years. You would think with the steroid contraversey that that would've turned many people off from the sport but it doesn't appear that way. Maybe the people attending Baseball these days are not card collectors like many of us. Vintage cards seem to be doing pretty well judging by past auction results. I have no idea if new cards are tanking.

No way to know from the numbers because, as noted above,
the snipers are in charge.
Run the numbers on "completed listings," to get a better
idea of sell-through rates.
MANY sellers are using "high" starting bids because they
are tired of giving their cards away to bargain hunters on
a venue that has lost traffic.
