That card is an absolute bear to find centered.

That Ozzie looks like it was graded a while ago, what with the different PSA font and all. All in all, nice card...

It is not harder to find centered than the Topps issue.
  • this is the same card that was sold at the Robert Edwards Auction a few weeks ago...

are there print marks on the card or is it the holder/scan? regardless, very nicely centered which you do not see very often.

    Thanks,

With the old PSA flip it makes me wonder if PSA used to grade sheet cut cards.

The same thougt occured to me when I saw the pic as well. Personally, I like my OPC cards with at least some sign of roughness, as these super smooth cut cards are always going to arouse suspicion to some degree, and suspicion is not what I'm looking for in a multi-K card.

  • I pulled two Smith rookies from packs last year. Both were diamond cut. But both also had knife-sharp edges.

The top two bids were snipes, so I don't think it was shilled. 7K is actually about right for a card of this grade. I recall a Topps 79 PSA 10 Smith going for 8K some time back.

Forget centering, do you guys know how hard it is to find OPC's cut cleanly like that one? Remember the guy who opened a box of 1979 OPC and most of the cards had those "hairs" on the edges? Trust me, the buyer is not crazy.

Looks like Dimitri Young won this one? 7,000 for a card is peanuts when your making 10+ million a year!

He's playing 1st base for the Nationals but I'm sure he's no longer making $10 million.

  • Didn't he just sell off some of his collection? He bought off me in the past and has paid a little more than the going price on most. Wish I had more he was interested in.

I'm sure he's still making enough to where 7 G's for a card is a drop in the bucket.

No doubt, I was just referring to the salary number that had been thrown out earlier in the thread.

I forwarded the link over to my brother to show him Dimitri's latest purchase and he reminded me he played ball in college with a guy who was related to Dimitri. He last name was Bailey. I guess that fits with the ebay ID.

    Small world.

PS. That is one sweet looking card. And, I like how he picked up that nice Delmon PSA 10 auto.
