Maybe he's suggesting that Beckett has graded 31 of them and the 32nd has been graded 129 different times by PSA before finally landing in a PSA 8 slab.
My guess is close to 1000 were made. At least half of the 1990 product is still unopened, sitting in cases somewhere. And if you figure about 25% of what has already been opened is graded, that leaves about 500 opened, and another 500 unopened. This card was counterfeited too.
Guys, I'm currently ripping a factory wax case of '90 Topps I had laying around and haven't had any luck so far. I've opened about 6 or 7 of the 20 boxes and it's a pain to go through all those worthless cards. I just throw all of them away. Nothing else in there worth keeping to grade. Could somebody who might know tell me if the Frank Thomas NNOF is even in wax boxes so I don't waste my time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I just might have one, but it's like finding Willy Wonka's golden ticket, you could open case upon case and probably never get one.

No one will ever "know" for sure - if it were proven to be one particular style source of 90T that the card was found in, that particular type would be bought up, busted and soon exhausted.
Murph, if you've come across the first Thomas in the case and it's a normal one, then I'd stop busting.
I can't imagine the regular and NNOF would somehow be mixed in the same case.
While I agree there is a TON of unopened 90 Topps, I would think most of these HAVE been opened, as they would have been from the very start of the production run, so those early cases/boxes got into the hobby and were opened.
For what it's worth, I'm in VA, and was doing major card shows in VA, WV, East TN at the time, and NO ONE in my part of the world had one, or knew of anyone that had.
That leads me to believe they probably all ended up in one part of the country, maybe even with the same candy distributor....

Hey Guys, first post.
I saw the FT NNOF on ebay and wanted to know where this person got his info. I have a PSA9 and check the bay sometimes to see what the market is like.
Gigfy "Just wondering where you got your info from about the 32 cards and PSA only grading one card."
therobertsonstore( 50) "That was the Original stat about the card from beckett. But it has changed now and I honestly forgot to change it. Im sorry"
Now I see that the person that bid $1,000 had retracted and the reserve has not been met.
BTW, I pulled mine out of a wax pack in Saratoga Springs, NY in the fall/winter of 1989/90. I would pick up a few packs of Topps in the wax packs when I bought groceries. I remember when I opened it I thought to myself, "Man, Topps quality is going downhill". I stuck it in a box and never thought of it again until I was thumbing through a Beckett in 1995 or so. I tried to sell it when it was at its peak for $1,500 but the seller never came through.
I was sorting through a box of graded garbage pulling out Bonds cards to unload on ebay, and I found my Thomas NNOF. Actually there isn't anything on the front. I have no clue about the origin of these cards, but I have a bunch of different players.

Geez Arch, I would even be afraid that card wasnt real. There was no bleached cardboard used for 1990 Topps. Bleached cardboard didnt show up until 1992.

Barry,
No. I only lived there for 6 months while I was going to school in the Navy. It snowed a few weeks after I got there and I never saw the ground again. I left before it thawed. Not like the winters we have down here in dixie. We are lucky to get an inch or two once a year.
Any thoughts on keeping/selling Bonds rookies when he breaks Hank's record? I have an autographed 1984 USA McGuire I should have unloaded when he hit 70 homers!
