Nice Card except for the 20,000 blue print dots in the green border. I wouldn't ever want a card that looked like that. Buying the grade not the card for sure.

From the auction description: This card has outstanding resolution, bright borders and incredible corners it has been anointed with a PSA Mint 9 grade and only one card has been graded higher.
So, does that mean there is a 10 out there not yet listed in the pop report?
Dude those dots are on that card. I have seen tons of 63s look just like that. The spahn is bad for dots as well. To me you can't be a nine and have it look like its freckled.

I agree about the dots and the centering. My PSA 8 has the same freckling problems. I also think the centering is a little better (but with a slight tilt).
And mine cost $6,700 less.
Way too much to be paid for that PSA 9, but if two people want it, the sky's the limit.
The dots you mention are inherent to the printing process of '63s. I'd wager PSA places much more weight on the preservation of the colored corners - as they should.
totally disagree. print defects are defects and should take away from the card. If it can be found w/o dots end of story. Roller marks are a part of the process as are bubbles and wrinkles. They take away from the grades as well. BTW bad centering, rough cuts and diamond cuts are also part of the printing process but they seem to be frowned on as well.

Subtle dots in a field of color? Not too distracting.
Big blue/yellow blotch in that field? Yep, distracting.
Diamond cut distracting? Yep. 49/51 centering, T-B, L-R? Well, not as distracting, but still, NOT perfect.
It is a matter of degree, my friend, and superb lower corner condition on a '63 card will trump other minor flaws - again, depending on the degree of said flaws. This is why grading is an art, and not a science. Or, to put it another way - any given PSA 9 of a given vintage card will NOT be identical to one of the same, in the same grade. If that were the case, then no one would ever have a need to look at the card inside.
The bottom line is I believe every one of us vintage cards collectors would be proud to own that Madec auction Kaline PSA 9 despite a few subtle imperfections it may have. It's only a matter of who has the coin to afford it. I do agree it sold for way more than I would have guessed but that's how it goes.
Still a sharp 9 in my opinion. No wear to the colored nameplate area is key for me. I would think the t-b centering might be a little better as well for a 9, but what do I know. ....
By the way Kurt, nice 9 you have there my friend. A beauty too.
I collect vintage and if that card was in a PSA 8 holder I would pass due to those dots. Horrible, disgusting eye appeal IMO. Worst 9 I have seen in awhile. It looks like a magic eye where if you stare at it long enough you'll see a dolphin jumping throug a hoop. Kurtman, your card to me is acceptable. I guess maybe if you can count the print dots on one hand I can see it grading this high.

....but it is low pop
The centering is good not off the chart - so to pay that kind of money?
Check - the registry and see if it shows up really soon as a "new" addition.
This looks like a registry competition card to me.
