Special Treat

I went over to a friends house for dinner last night and his wife brought out a large tupperware bin and set it on the table. She says, my dad left me all these coins when he died and I have no clue what they are. I felt like a kid in a candy store as she handed me a binder full of raw 18th and 19th century world coins, many in XF or higher (probably 20 pages full). Then she brought out plastic containers of SAE's, tons of commemoratives and US proof sets. One container had 20 Peace dollars dating 1922-1926 and every one of them MS64 or higher. Another binder full of Morgans including several 1883 and 1884 CC in MS 64. In the entire collection there was only one slabbed coin and that was an 1884 CC Morgan in an old PCGS rattler MS64.
The coup de grace however was a small blue binder and when I opened it I was treated to pages full of gold
. Most of the coins were world coins and all in uncirculated condition. Some of those that stood out were a 1857 French Napolean III 50 Franc that would probably go MS62-63, a 1874 Belgium 20 Franc also MS63, an 1875 Dutch 10 Guilder that was at least MS64. There was gold from England, Mexico, Spain, United States (including a 1926 Double Eagle that looked to be MS65), Hungary etc...
Was quite a treat to get to look at all these. I'm trying to convince my friends to select the cream of the crop and come down to Long Beach next week and have someone give them a better idea of value than I can.

<< <i>Any Portuguese gold? >>
Nope. No Portugese.
This was the "leftovers" from her fathers collection. She said he sold off his best stuff a few years before he died to pay for his medical bills from open heart surgery. I can't help but wonder what he sold off!
<< <i>Awesome stash!!
Happy Birthday, Rat!
thanks!!

And find someone reputable if selling becomes an issue.
<< <i>I hope you gave them the standard "don't clean them" lecture followed by the one on proper storage! >>
One of the first things I told them was "don't clean them or handle them with bare hands and they watched me put on cotton gloves before handling any coins. All the coins are stored quite well already in either airtights or 2x2's, just not slabbed.
