I have seen a very similar piece, many moons ago; someone loaned it to me to scan, and place in the "Identification Required" section of the coin club magazine I was (and currently still am) Editor of. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the original scanned graphic, but here's a scan of the photocopy of the printout of the scan. As you can see, it's black-and-white, and a bit fuzzy, but you can still tell it's the same coin, only in better condition, with a loop attached at the top:

Our conclusion at the time was it definitely didn't look ancient Egyptian - the artistic style was just plain wrong for that period. It's either a trinket sold as an "Egyptian souvenir" to tourists there, or some king of New Age charm or amulet.

There is a thread on eBay asking what the token was here: eBay Thread (message board)

One of the few replies ID's it as such:

"'It is the bottom drop of a three/four piece watch fob first put out in the late 1920's during the anything and everything Egyptian craze that followed the discovery of King Tut's tomb. You can see where the attachment was at 12 o'clock -- the chain fob was copied in several different styles and metals of varying quality. The other medals in the fob also have generic Egyptian subjects on them -- a nice period piece but nothing rare as they were mass produced. "
