Hi Guys, While researching the T205 Gold Border set I saw that it has minor league players in it. One team that I was interested in was the Newark team. Was this team from Newark, New Jersey? What was their team name and what field did they they on. Did they have any connections to a major league team like most of the minor league teams of today? I'd also be interested in any of the other minor league info if anyone knows any. Thanks for looking, Neil

Branch Rickey was the first baseball executive to attempt to build a farm system where the farm teams were affiliated with a major league team. His first attempt at this was in the mid 1920s with the St Louis Cardinals, but Commisioner Landis did everything he could to disuade this practice feeling it would ruin the minor leagues. In wasn't until after WW II that minor league affiliations became common place.
