evidence of trimming on 1975's? How do I know?

I am puzzled...image

I recieved notice on my submission on my 1975 cards that the grader (BTW, how do we know which grader it is?) thought there was evidence of trimming. I bought this as a set in 1975/1976 and they have been in the box ever since. I was expecting/hoping for 9's (dare I dream of 10's) but evidence of trimming never entered my mind. I have read where several issues have had size variances in production. Has anybody had experience with this happening with the 75's? I compared several of the other cards I was going to send in and I don't see any difference. I am assuming the the card is smaller than the standard size. Do I need a buy a caliper and measure?

Anybody else have a similar experience? Do I resubmit and hope for a different grader?

Thanks,

  • I have several 1975 Topps minis that I bought from packs in 1975. When you line them up they are all the same width, but many are different heights. The ones with the beautiful green and yellow boarder combo seem to be uniformly short. I'm pretty sure they were the last row of cards on the sheet and with Topps having to movr the cutting blades for the minis the last row got cut short. Just a theory.
