We lived in South Boston and rarely saw anything but brick and asphalt growing up. My first game at Fenway was against the birds the following summer. The city was electric that season, but in typical fashion we were once again heartbroken by the '67 Sox.
I forget the score and all, but will never forget stepping out of the ramp. For a moment, I was Dorothy stepping out of the poppy field and seeing the Emerald city for the first time. (For any homophobes, Pardon that disturbing visual )
