Its in the line of tickets that used to be used for the George Washington Motor Lodge shows, though this one is much nicer in eye appeal. I still have a run of them laying around somewhere from the 70's through about 86
This show was regarded as one of the top shows in the region during the late 70's. As a 15 year old, I'd have to beg my dad to be able to buy cards and generally he wouldn't let me. So to attend the show, I skipped school and hopped a train to NY to get to the Hotel Taft. I put my cash in my socks I was so scared of getting mugged.
I picked up 5 or 6 Rod Carew rookies in NM/M for $3.50 a piece, and 2 NM/M '67 Mantle's from the same dealer for $5 each. He had a stack of at least 50 of them!
For $26 bucks my choice came down to either a '54 Aaron Rookie in VG/EX or a set of mini cards in a set of strips from the early 50s that included Babe Ruth, some other hall of famers and early 50's stars. Seeing the Babe, I went for it, though I've never found anyone interested in purchasing it. I regretted that decision once Aaron rookies started selling for $100 and ever since.
The big item that year were the '77 Topps cloth cards--Dealers were asking like $20 a set for them--which was a lot of money then. Many dealers had them. I also remember a dealer asking $400 for a 1954 Bowman complete set (- 66 Williams).
Also Renata Gallaso (sp?) who I think was a big promoter back then also issued these black and white cards of Brooklyn Dodgers that I picked up for a few bucks. I eventually had a few of them signed by Koufax and Reese.
