Shipping to Canada , new postal rates

Am I reading it right that they have eliminated the small flat rate globabl priority flat rate envelope? The only option now is a $9 one. This is a major let down and is really going to hurt Canadian buyers , the flat rate envelope allowed a reasonable shipping cost and was completely trackable . now the only option is going to be 1st class mail and I believe you need insurance to be able to track it (still trying to find out the cutoff for a signature ) so no more $5 gifts on the declaration.

Just mailed 3 graded cards in a size 0 bubble mailer this morning to Canada.

    It went First-Class International for $ 2.24.
The value wasn't very much and I know who the cards are going to so I didn't bother with any kind of delivery confimation.

So for smaller, inexpensive items it looks like Canada is still okay to ship to ...

Yea, I'm actually really POd about the new $9 Priority International flat rate. This is the service I will have to mainly use since I only accept Paypal and mainly sell PSA 10 hockey stuff so I can get a tracking #. That's a fairly big jump from their small Global Priority flat rate envelopes of $4.25 to $9. $7.50 for the larger envelope wasn't so bad....as I can ship about 4 graded slabs in those. I may have to change my payment methods for future auctions and let the Canadian bidders have their choice of regular air mail and only accept Money Orders for those if they feel the rate is too high. Anything over $50 will have to go Priority International up north. USPS bastiges!

Just came back from the PO, another twist is that you can not insure the flat rate envelope . You can only get insurance using regular priority mail. I like to insure for $50 so that a signature is required , now I have to send registered so what cost me about $8 last week is costing me $19. inexpensive items are ok , anything that needs to be tracked is going to be painful.

USPS must think we got more $ PUCKS than we know what to do with. image

The thing that gets me is that I recieve items from the UK, AUS and even China faster than I can get an express post hockey card from Minnesota???

But I don't mind the wait. I'm just happy to see US sellers willing to ship up north. It sucks when I really want a card and can't bid on it.

EDIT: I need to get hooked up with one of my buddies down south with an ebay account. image
