I kinda like this new ebay rating system

I was checking my feedback and I noticed the new system with the stars. Here's my rating:

Item as Described: 5.0/5.0
Communication: 4.9/5.0
Shipping Time: 4.9/5.0
Shipping and Handling Charges: 4.8/5.0

Since I grade a lot, I try to use PSA's standards for selling raw so I expected the 5.0 on that. The rest seems cool too. I like it because I can really see an overall satisfaction rating on a subject. For instance, if a seller thinks that a certain amount of shipping time is reasonable, he will always keep getting positives but his rating for that might be 4.1/5.0. Then he would know that although people are happy, that is an area he can work on. Or same for shipping charges. I think in the long run this will help ebay.

What is everyone else's ratings? Mine has only been on about 17 transactions so far.

  • does this new rating system show what each person left for u ? for ex does it say person A left u xx/5.0 in each category or does it just show an overall avg ??

Why daywalker? So you can know which person to strike back against if they leave you a bad xx/5.0? LOL Just kidding. Actually, I think it's anonymous, but im not positive.

I'm pretty sure it's anonymous, too.

Hey - has anyone else noticed how a lot of the card powersellers have lessened their shipping charges (some as much as half) since this new rating system came into play?

I like it as well though i think to much info is givin in the buyers standpoint such as card price seller. How do you find the 4.9 and such all i see is stars.

Move your cursor over the stars. The rating will show up.

thats actually exactly what i was curious about - like can a seller see if a person left them a 2/5 in s/h or something cuz then the rating system would be just as flawed as the current feedback system where sellers just hold feedback "ransom" till its left for them so they can always retaliate with a neg if they get one from a buyer

Early on you could have a good ideal who left you what, but after a while it will be impossible to tell.

I have to agree that I like it also, it does let people know which areas they have to improve upon. I have 21 transactions and 5.0 all the way across the board!!!!

heck ... 1 won 12 cards the other day for a grand total of 12 cents. There was no mention of shipping in the listings and I got tagged for a total bill of 36 bucks. Crap like that is why I try to keep my business with folks I have dealt with previously. I know I'll never buy anything from this clown again - and his feeback will show it. I know, I know I should have checked as he has many negs/nuetrals for this behavior. Now he will have 12 more.
Looking for a Glen Rice Inkredible and Alex Rodriguez cards

...but I still love the service they provide and they don't yell at you if you wait 10 days or so to pay because you're waiting for other auctions to end. image

There should be a ebay rating system for buyers too, like when they take 20 days to pay and give you (the seller) zero email communication for their delays.

Frankly I don't have the time to give detailed rating info on sellers. I would imagine a lot of buyers will only post that if they think there was a slight problem with the transaction but it still deserved a positive. So I wouldn't put a lot of meaning behind these 'new' rating numbers. Also, how can sellers be responsible for speed of USPS delivery? Sure, if you pay with paypal and the seller takes a full week to ship out the item, then I can see using the rating system, but if the seller ships within two days and for some reason the buyer doesn't receive the item within say 5-7 days, how can this delay be blamed on the seller?

I would rather see another category about how well the item you're buying is packaged. I find that over 60% of sellers just throw the psa cards in a mailer with no protection around the card.

Agree with cardbender. Seller has much more control over packaging than he does over transit time, and that is more important anyway, as who cares if you get a damaged item really really fast? Also don't think that most buyers will bother using these new ratings, unless there's a problem for the most part.
