Show-off your thalers here (or other Germans) !

My brother's b-day is coming up and he's heavily into German coinage. In his honor (or just because) - post a thaler or any other large German coin you like!

Show me your CV's, your SV's, your halfs, 2/3's, your doubles and triples!

Here's one of my all-time favorite designs - the Wildman!

Gee, if that is a b-day present... I want to be your brother! I have a few doubles, mostly from Prussia, but since you started with a Wildman, this is my fav Wildman that I have, not a Thaler but a 24 Marien Groschen. The reverse pic looks pretty much like the coin in hand, not quite as vibrant though. The obverse just will not come out with the purples and blues no matter how many times I tried in the last 20 minutes or so. Germany is my main collecting area and I have some others I will share in the next couple of days after taking some decent pics. The Wildman is a favorite design of mine, and have started a date set of the minors recently from Brunswick Wolfenbuttal (Dummy me, like I don't have enough impossible sets going on already)! image

Just sold, to my uncle. I told him I would cheerfully buy it back anytime he tired of it.

OK, so this one is a half thaler, but I guess it counts. Recently sold, like the other one I posted.

There are some magnificent coins in this thread! Who's holding on to a Sede Vacante, though image?

stuart - that is a great example of "3 brothers" image

Rickc300 - my Wildman is the only coin I've purchased with my girlfriend, mutually agreeing that it's a cool design, so it's staying in my collection (for as long as I am with my girlfriend, I guess image ).

As for the present for my brother - not sure. Going to look around for a nice German for about $100. Any ideas?

Thanks Roman! There are some impressive talers in the tread. Personally, my 3 favorite coins in my collection are all Sede Vacante talers. I find the designs and history to be fascinating.
