The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) has released the very first .99999 (that's five 9s!) pure one-ounce gold Maple Leaf. This gold coin represents a new standard in investment products and is the only .99999 pure gold bullion coin currently produced by a government mint.

This one ounce .99999 Maple Leaf gold coin features a new, elegant maple leaf design gracing the reverse and a 12 sided design. The reverse design will change with each annual issue making the 2007 issue unique from all other Maple Leaf coins.


I must have a few of these.

Although the marketing says this is the first 5N Au 1oz Maple Leaf, they actually made 400 of these in 2005. If I was interested in these, I'd think about the 2005 version first. This PCGS MS69 2005 closed at $2,203.99.

They actually have the Canadian Flora series that started in 1998 that is 99999 pure gold. CAN$350 face value with 1.2233 troy ounce gold.

Not to be a stick in the mud, but the difference between .9999 and .99999 is not enough gold to fill a gnats belly-button!

Personally, I couldn't justify the premium for the lesser mintage and .00009 difference.
