Can't use PayPal labels anymore... HELP....outrageous shipping due to USPS !!!

Ridiculous.... when I ship 6 x 9 inch envelope (with a PSA slab), a small bubble cushion under 3/4" thickness and weighs 2oz., should not cost a friggin' $1.32 on the PayPal label !!!!! I guess I have to go back to stamps.... yuck. Any help would be appreciated. chaz

psa wasted no time upping their shipping rates. they already had a good cushion built into their rates.
Let's break this down further....
1-Bubble mailer cost --> If you're paying more than $.25/ea you need to find an alternate source.
2-Delivery Confirm --> $.75
3-New postage rate increases --> MOST bubble-mailers will be less than $1.35 (in fact, several are only in the $.60 range now)
4-If you decide to drive to the P.O.-$3.00 gas per gallon --> This is the seller's cost of doing business... don't forget, the post office will come and pick up your packages if should desire.
.... where we at? $2.35 per bubble-mailer on the high-end? I believe this will get a large majority of single card auctions and up to 2/3 graded card auctions.
Even if you're already at $3 for a single card, you're still doing fine.... in fact, you're even making $$. It's the retards charging $4+ to ship a single card that kill me.
I certainly do not mean ANY disrespect, but I can't imagine anybody justifying raising shipping costs by $.50 - $1 more when in all reality it MIGHT be affected by a 02 - 25 cent increase.
Larger packages/boxes... sure. Shipping for these items will be affected a lot more.

Not needed if you insure it for more than $50.... it's required upon delivery.
If you're post office has been selling you signature confirmation for items you've insured for $50 or more, they've been taking advantage of you.

Hinged 25 count snap case = $0.22
Stamps.com delivery confirmation = $0.18
Postal fees for 3 ounces = $1.47

He had a bubble mailer and what looked like a paypal mail label on it. He and the clerk were going back and forth about the problem (I only caught a little bit of it), but it sounded like he had selected small envelope as the size and his paypal label (the long one) ran the length of the mailer. Apparently the label has to be placed so it can be read when holding it like a regular envelope or you have to pay an additional charge for an odd sized package or something. Maybe I misunderstood but was getting heated when I left. >>

Mark, there is now reason why you shouldn't charge $4/card on the 1993 Refractors you sell I've been charging it for well over a year now and my sales have never been better.

It is a tough seller world out there on ebay and I need to worry about the keeping the customers I have rather than making an additional 50 cents in shipping. Especially with the new ebay feedback system that is already pointing the sellers with customers that are unhappy with some part of service. I hate the system but I am going to make sure I maintain fives in all four categories.
Take a look at the infamous Gary, already has a 4.5 in shipping cost to go with his feedback of 97%. I noticed an auction he had for the Bill Ripken FF card in PSA 10 sold for under $40 and about a month ago I sold one for over $90. difference is definitely worth keeping my shipping where they are at.
As much as we curse the feedback system, it works in pointing out the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The new prices are killers.
The bad stuff is in the category of non-flat-rate Priority.
Depending on size/shape, it looks like about 50% more
$ than it was on some destinations/zones.
They also cannot give out the new insurance tickets yet.
Maybe by "Friday." Stuff from $1 to $200 gets the new black
insurance ticket. It has to be filled out b4 you drop the items.
Stuff over $200 uses the old blue ticket. It appears that INS
between $100 and $200 went down a bit.
My new plan is to use ONLY flat-rate Priority packages.
That means I will have to start selling more expensive
stuff.
This is not good. I will have to raise prices a bit to keep the
"Free" shipping scheme alive.
Not good.

everything is the "sellers cost of doing business".. you've obviously never been in business.. nobody goes into business for it to "cost" them.. you're supposed to cover your costs with profit, otherwise you'll be out of business very soon.. also, don't forget the post office WILL NOT come and pick up your packages if you should desire, unless you mail them via PRIORITY MAIL, EXPRESS MAIL, or GLOBAL EXPREE MAIL, all of which cost much more than you would probably be willing to pay as a cheapskate customer. (no offense to you for being cheap)

Me too! I just went down from $3 to $2 for the first card. I'm going to try this for a while and see if it helps!

If you are selling cheap cards (my definition being less than $25 but your threshold may vary) then I see no significant reason to mess with DC unless you have a potential clown based on feedback. I have NEVER had a buyer of cheap stuff perform a chargeback as there is little profit incentive to do so. Overcharging the buyer for shipping is simply gonna lose sales. What is the point of throwing DC on a $3 card anyway? You might as well pocket the expense and self insure. With that said, my advice would be to ship cheap cards at the large envelope rate. I am going to use a two-pronged shipping approach. I will advertise a lower shipping rate on my cheap stuff and a higher rate for stuff requiring DC ($1.85 and $2.50 respectively). I will be using the APC for domestic packages to avoid clerks with no clue. Most everything you need to know is right on the USPS webpage.
