Home Trading Cards & Memorabilia Forum

Why is it that....

the sports cards forum is so much calmer than the coin forum? Everyone here seems to be really laid back and to roll with the punches. No one gets their panties in a wad every time someone brings up something that's not entirely sports card or memorabilia related. It's nice to be able to actually have a meaningful conversation without the fear of some jerk calling someone names or instigating an arguement. Don't get me wrong. There are some very nice people on the coin forum and to those people I am thankful for the information that I have received. But to everyone on the sports card forum I would like to say thanks. I got away from collecting cards for awhile when I discovered the history and lure to coins. But after awhile all of the bickering and name calling got old and coins have sort of taken a back seat to my original passion: baseball cards and memorabilia. So once again I would like to say thank you for rekindling my love for baseball memorbilia. You guys rock!!!

Well, maybe they could make a "cafe" forum for the coin and cards forums for topics not related to coins/cards?

I'd be all for that too. But at the same time I don't have a problem with the occasional off topic item. Just with the name calling. But then again some of that is kind of funny now that I think about it. image

No matter where you go there's always drama on message boards. Some people have
no life and live to stir up sh$t someplace. They want confrontation to make them
seem bigger than they are. Sad but true. BTW, welcome back to the insane asylum..
eeer I mean the Sports Card boards. image

However, this, by far, is the most respectful group of message board posters I've ever seen in my life. It's really a joy to come here and read the threads and participate. It's a really good group of guys.

  • What the heck is that clip of the old lady punching the chick in the nose??

If that is acting, it is pretty darn good acting!

because they delete all the controversial threads that put PSA in bad light.

Cards are low stress compared to coins, at least in my experience.
I think there's more money in coins which leads to more stressed out collectors.

At least there's a sort of stability in coins. Coins will always have a monetary value, but one day a card collector could find himself with just a whole lot of cardboard.

Thats why I quit going to the coin forum and sold off some of my coin collection. In coins it seems like unless you are buying high buck mint state coins everyone considers you a junk collector and wants to rag on you. My first passion was collecting cards and thats where I get the greatest amount enjoyment these days. In my experience there are a lot less card snobs than coins snobs.

    Happy collecting

That's exactly how I feel. For instance when the VT shooting occured and someone posted on the coin forum everyone went balistic that it wasn't coin related. When the same thing was posted on the sports card forum it actually led to some genuine concern about the well being of the students at the school. I can't stand the holier-than-thou attitude that some of the people on the coin side have.
