No one gets my collection buddy!!image IF you had caught me a few weeks ago I had so doubles of coins in my collection.
Also, don't count out decimal Irish coinage (1971-2000) some of these are becoming very rare in uncirculated condition.
Recently a 1985 20 pence coin sold for €14,000 because of its scarceness. Right now I'm finishing up my 50 pence
series (1970-1988) I have them all but two and all are in unc condition which is becoming very difficult to find. One,
my 1982 50 pence is worth about €60.00 ($81.00) in UNC. I know most folks want pre-decimal coinage but don't
count it out. It has become a large part of my collection outside of my pre-decimal and regal parts of my collection.
  • NOT UNC, & NOT FOR SALE.....

Very cool! An authentic '43!! This year was a very popular year for fakes. Fake 43's are made by the 1 being filled down on a 1941 florin and a number 3
from a 1939 florin soldered on to the 1941 coin. I will not buy a 43 on line unless it's slabbed.

    A VERY WISE DECISION!!!!!!

The florin being faked much more than the half-crown.....

RBC- as a veteran of the complete Irish predecimal series in the three Danscos, I must say you wow-ed me there.

I say I did the "complete" set because the slot for your coin, the '43 florin, had a "plug" in the album page, making it optional because of its rarity. I had the '43 halfcrown, but the '43 florin is the one regular-issue Irish predecimal coin I never had.

I was offered one, once... a PCGS MS65. Could've bought a new car for less.

    Thanks Lord M.....

I had about 10-12 completed 3 volume sets (NO FLORIN, just the half crown) in varying grades...... I eventually sold them all (except my primary set that I kept), to finance the 1943 florin and some other acquisitions (both darkside and liteside)...

I have owned at one time or another probably 15-18 1943 Half-Crowns........... All gone but the one in my collection.......

    Wow. image

And I thought I was hot stuff for completing the set just once (sans '43 florin).

They come in three Dansco albums for the Irish predecimal. Do some Googling- I forget where I found mine.

If you have trouble finding some, let me know, and I will give it a try. Sometimes those can be elusive, but they're out there.

It was a fun set, and was a complete type AND date set at the same time. (Except for that 1938 penny, of course, and the 1943 florin was optional).

Oh, wow, I almost let another chance to post my old PR64 CAM gilt penny pass by.

I do miss that. In my honest opinion, excluding the potential historical value of some of my dug finds, that coin was THE finest single piece I have ever had in my personal collection, I believe. I often wish I hadn't sold it.

I had the 1/2d in gilt, too. It was the one that made me catch gilt proof disease.

    It was just PR61, though.

All I have left of it is an old avatar pic.

I think I had an extra of one of the volumes somewhere ...... I'll look for it and get back to you...... The set was in 3 volumes... Farthings/HalfPence/Pennies
    3 pence/6 pence/shillings
    Florins/Half Crowns
  • That would be great.

If you do find it, just PM me.
