Phillster, if you can get 5 people to post here today that say they've had successful transactions with you (where you have bought or traded for their coins - not received them for free), I'll go through my collection and mail you a couple of free coins on your list.

  • ALL THE COMMUNICATIONS I HAVE HAD WITH THIS PERSON(OR WHATEVER) HAVE RESULTED IN ME BEING ACCUSED OF TRYING TO RIP HIM OFF BY USING STANDARD PRICING ON SOME COINS OF MINE HE WANTED TO BUY.
CAN YOU IMAGINE SOMEONE TELLING YOU THAT THEY WILL ONLY PAY $25 FOR A 1932-D OR 1932-S WASHINGTON QUARTER BECAUSE SOME RED BOOK SAYS THAT'S ALL THEY ARE WORTH????
I GAVE UP AND FROM ALL THE POSTS I'VE READ ABOUT HIM SO HAVE MANY OF THE REGULAR REAL NICE COIN PEOPLE ON THESE BOARDS.

HE IS NOT DEALING IN A FAIR PROFESSIONAL MANNER WITH ANYONE.

    CUT HIM OFF. image

And 35 posts (34 of them being new threads started for "I NEED THESE COINS! WILL BUY OR TRADE!", right?)

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

So let's ask Phillster, "Just what are you using as a price guide?"

Obviously it sounds like he is looking at some real old Redbooks, or even better, an old Bluebook!

Newcomp103, if you don't mind me asking, what did you sell him?
You can be general, like saying 'circulated modern coins' or 'worn out Roosies'.
I mean, Philster stated he was looking for SHQ, and also stated he was looking for circulated coins.
Put the 2 together & I can possibly see a sale. If the postage wasn't too much.

    Just wondering.

I sold him 12 circulated Kennedy Halves and 5 common date circulated Roosevelt Dimes...at basically face value plus shipping...he seemed very appreciative! His money reached me before he got the coins...he sent me a message yesterday saying he received the coins and thanked me!

I agree with A039 aka Bigmark.....

That said, if he would just chill, I have some of the lincolns and halves that I wouldn't mind getting to someone for a reasonable price because they aren't doing anything for me, but shipping would be a big part of it due to the weight/cost (talking shipping at cost).

I just don't like the same thread being posted over and over and over when all someone has to do is to edit or TTT for awhile. Once a thread gets totally convoluted, then I understand a new one.

Mark, what is it with your references to me being a Nazi.
You don't know me & I find it quite offensive.

My point is that Phillster is looking to buy circulated coins at or just above face value.
That may be all good & fine if you are selling common 'modern' coins, basically pocket change.
I was just looking to confirm this was the case with the coins sold by Newcomp103, and it was, IMO.
There are probably some Kennedy's left that might still fit that scenario.

But when you start talking about keys, semi-keys & pre-'64 coins, these all have some premium attached to them, even if it's just melt value.

With comments from other members about Phillster's dealings with them I am wondering how Phillster is placing a value on these coins.
If he would comment, maybe we would all know what to expect.

I hope that's OK with you.

  • Ok the prices i get are from a 2006 red book its not old and not a blue book.

Thank You. That wasn't so hard.

Now we all know what the price guide is.

I think my 2006 copy is at work (not joking).
If so, I'll look to see if I have any coins you need I would be willing to sell at those prices.
    I'm sure there are.

Maybe because you contacted all the people I do business with on the forum, crying about a post made on the OFR about your risque ebay prurchase?
  • Philip-

I have all the Franklins that you want- but my question to you the first time out when you were looking for a 09-SVDB lincoln was that particular date was going to be expensive- and you commented that you could not pay 500 for a penny.

Apparently you must think that as collector's we will just give away the coin at face value, when we as collectors may have paid a certain price to obtain the coins you look for.

Using the Redbook as a fair pricing guide? come on get real- you have a computer- look at past auctions either on ebay or heritage for those definite hard to find key dates you are looking for- you will be surprised at the pricing.

Go to a coin show in your area- you might be lucky and surprised all in the same day.

Augie - this person is playing a few folks here like a fiddle.

what fill needs to tell everyone in the beginning just what he is willing to pay at most for any particular coin series- and then let the folks here decide if they want to sell to him.

oh- Phil- my version of circulated may not be quite what you want to spend.

    Wade,

I don't disagree with your views, but at least now we all know the basis for the values placed on coins he wants.
There may be quite a few (non-keys) that have not risen in value much in the last 2 years that members would be willing to sell him.
I'll look, and maybe come up with a few.
Heck, I probably have lots of circ. Walkers that I would LOVE to sell at 2006 Redbook prices, everyone here it seems is trying to buy these at melt or below.

Anyway, I hope Phillster uses all this as a learning experience.

    Phillster,
I would suggest you not list coins you know you can't afford.
If a member offers you a key coin you've listed at a killer price & you make a comment like you would spend $500 on a penny (ask Stewart Blay & others how much they would spend on a cent, you'd be surprised), it only shows how serious you are about purchasing these. If you're not serious, don't list them.
