Ebay Feedback

I am looking for opinions on Ebay feedback. I bought a box of cards as a pre-sale on Ebay. I get an e-mail saying that a refund would be issued. The refund arrived 3 weeks later. My feeling is do not offer pre-sales if you cannot deliver and to boot, refund me 3 weeks later after I pre-paid for the box 2 months in advance. I left negative feedback. The seller left negative feedback to me stating that since a refund was issued, neutral feedback would have been more appropriate. My take is that refunds 3 weeks after the fact are not appropriate on pre-sales. Unfortunately, now I have a negative feedback. Looking at his feedback, he has offered pre-sales before and did not deliver. Was I wrong in leaving the negative feedback?

Thanks.

No, you weren't wrong. Think of your retaliatory neg as taking one for the team. If more of the people he cheated in this manner had neg'd him, you probably never would have done business with him.

Situations like this is why I have a separate ID for bidding and selling. With my bidding ID, I don't care if it gets negged since I know I'll fulfill my end of the deal. My selling ID I'm a little bit more careful with.

  • I don't think you were wrong to leave a neg. I had the same thing happen 2 or 3 yrs ago (refunded my $$ after nearly 4 weeks) a few weeks later, there's the same seller, selling the same boxes I received a refund from. Sure seemed like he used my money to place his order and had zero intention of selling me the boxes.
I've had both good and bad experiences dealing with pre-sells and I've found I'm better off paying a bit more and dealing w/ a large seller that specializes in presells. Much fewer headaches in the long run.
