The GLORIA on the tree is in a type of script that doesn't look right for the period of coin, but I guess that it's in the realm of possibility that they did it that way. Otherwise it looks OK to me.

Tend to agree. Fine details (like the serifs on the letters on the scroll) seem to be missing from this coin, which can't be explained by simple wear. It's either fake, or it's been seriously tooled.

Here's a few on CoinArchives to compare it with.

It looks like a cast copy to me.

  • I have to agree with athelred, Look's like it could be a cast copy? The serif's don't look like they were struck, Look at the edge of them they appear to lack the defination that a struck coin would have. Seem's to have that poured appearence, If it is a copy, they did a good job.

I had wanted to call it fake but didn't know enough to do so. What I observed and made me suspicious was the cleanliness and overall appearance of this old coin. The wear was too nice for the age, much too clean to be real. Having said that, I had backed off from commenting due to lack of knowledge.image
