- NO flame war, do not read or reply!

Since I can't delete the entire post I have edited the title and opening message by adding this line... I did this shortly after my reply which was made in an angry state of mind. If you have never been burned or burnt anyone, good for you! This was supposed to be a little way to payback the thiefs out there.

Sorry and I don't want to start a huge FLAME WAR with anyone.

Thanks,
Rick

  • Everytime I have agreed to reduce the shipping I have been burned. I wind up losing money in the transaction. So please tell us your ebay name so we can block you.

How have you been burned? I just paid $37.50 in shipping for 5 coins ($7.50 per coin) that were all sent in one package that cost the seller under $8.00 total. I see how I got burned, but fail to see how the seller would get burned by offering a discount on the total price.

I did not start this post to ignite a flaming war or to get blocked from sellers who do not combine shipping charges. I always ask before bidding on multiple auctions, and if no discount is offered I bid accordingly and lower my bids to make up for the shipping costs. I have lost many an auction as the second high bidder because of this. I have no problem paying an extra buck or two in order to combine auctions and I will pay for any extra insurance too if needed.

I created this post as a way to point out a way to get a little revenge on unscrupulous sellers, some of which charge huge shipping charges to make up PayPal and eBay fees. If you are not one of those, I will be bidding on as many items as you offer that I want. If you are one of the shady ones, you will get my business one time and no more (I wish I could block sellers when doing searches, that sure would save me some time). I have dealt with a number of people from here and have nothing but praise for the way they have done business. Most members here have all probably had a run in with a rip-off artist at one time or another, I am not accusing any member of this, just offering a little chance for payback if it happens.

Block if you want, but I do ask about combined shipping BEFORE bidding and as I stated, if not offered I bid accordingly. If offered and then not honored, I will pay but never be back again. To me this does not seem unreasonable...

I don't know the circumstances, but the $37.00+ shipping charge does seem a bit out of line. I think that most folks will combine shipping on multiple purchases if you buy them reasonably close together.

I didn't read the original post by Rick. However, I am greatly perturbed by sellers who will not combine shipping charges on multiple sales. It's extremely distasteful and unprofessional.
