The educated Cent Collector knows that the Brown designation can mean many things. Often it can mean a coin that's lost its original luster and taken on an earthy tone. But often, as in this case, it means the coin has MORE eye appeal than an untoned coin, and that the coin has taken up beautiful shades of green, purple, and natural DEEP blue, in addition to retaining a greater-than-typical amount of original red for a Brown coin. A beautiful example of a not-so-common date, and the last year of a very popular series. Make this coin yours. (And, yes, the marks you see are on the holder and not the coin. Notice how they all seem to "float" over fields, legends, and devices.)
