Mixed Proof and Circ strike sets?

From a thread on the US Coin Forum:

As I registry participant, I feel I can chime in that personally I feel the registry should allow collectors to intermix proofs and regular strikes such as in the days of yore. Weight them differently to handle any rarity discrepancies ... but why not allow us all the advantages of the registry for a mixed collection? If it was good enough for Louie, it should be good enough for us!

I would second TDN's thoughts. My main set is an 1872 denomination set. Some of the coins required for completition have little distinction between business strikes and proofs. Would be nice to see an intermingling on all sets with a different weighting based on rarity if need be.
